Hey everyone!
Ok, well I realize I've been home for almost a week now, but quite frankly its taken me that long to adjust and just chill after the crazy two weeks! So a few points to cover...
- Unfortunately with all the Olympic coverage, my family was not too motivated to play the games I talked about
. But on the last night I just took out Cranium and basically made everyone play. At first it was you know, grumble grumble, but once the game got going I think they had a good time. It was very fun, and I turned out to be the "charades master" on my team! I got a card where I had to move my aunt like she was a puppet to get my team to guess "Meter Maid". So instead of having her act that out, I had her tug her ear ("Sounds Like" symbol in charades) and then had her point to my dad, Peter. My mom guess "Meter" shortly followed by "Meter Maid" within 20 seconds!
- We had EXCELLENT weather! Where I live it literally rained for the two weeks, but in New Jersey it was sunny and beautiful.
Plus I got a nice tan, which is normally a rarity for my Irish skin!
At the beach my brother and I got to play some beach volleyball which was a first for me. It is definately a lot harder than it looks! Especially when the sand is very hot! - At the boardwalk down the street from my aunt's house, one weekend there was this little festival that had tents set up with carnival type foods, including one of my new favorite desserts- ZEPPOLES! For those of you who don't know, it's a ball of dough put in grease and then covered in powdered sugar. They are soo delicious; in fact, one day I decided to have them for lunch! When in Rome, right Michael?
Here is a picture of them, without the powdered sugar though:
- We got to go to SIX FLAGS New Jersey one day which was a blast! It was me, my sister, my brother, and my cousin/godfather. I got to ride their main attraction, Kingda Ka, which is the tallest and fastest roller coaster on earth! It shoots you from 0 to 128 mph in 3.5 seconds and then shoots you up 456 feet, then straight back down! The only way I could describe the feeling of going up was like I was in a spaceship being launched because you are so perpindicular to the ground and all you see is sky! Here's two pictures of it: Please note the size of the car in relation to the track in the second picture!

- Other than that we just kind of hung out, but spending time with the family was fun enough! My little cousins are so adorable. They are 4 and 2 and their dad is my godfather. Of course the vacation went by wayy to fast but I enjoyed myself. Now I'm just trying to cram in all that Latin work and finishing my summer reading. I finished the Kite Runner which was a very good book that I reccomend for those of you who haven't read it. Now I'm onto "Into the Wild" which isn't nearly as good.
- LEAVE SOME GREAT COMMENTS!

Welcome back!
I'm afraid to say I don't watch the Olympics with the exception of the cycling events (yay Britain!), it's the only one I'm really interested in.
Today is the first good day of weather we've had a in while, you're just rubbing it in!

Oh my GOD that Kingda Ka thing looks terrifying, I can't even handle small tiny teeny coasters, I could never work up the nerve to go on something like that. Ever. I'd be screaming bloody murder.

Welcome back! Your vacation sounds like it was a lot of fun!
This is kinda weird, I went to New Jersey to visit my aunt too lol, and there's also a boardwalk near her house.

* I'm supposed to keep track of the Olympics for this class; but I haven't given myself the time. So I'm gonna' have to read the whole thing this week.
Never played Cranium. But I really, really wanted it. I never found a spanish version, so I didn't get it. It seems like you're good at it haha.
* I've played beach voleyball before, and it was LAME. Not because of the sport, but because how they kept making rules up...
* Zeppoles sound tasty. They look like potatoes, though....
* NICE RIDE! I was in Chicago a couple of months ago, and went to Six Flags. So I know the excitement... Plus, it was also with my family (the two weeks I spent there). So, it was really really fun.
* Good luck reading "Into the Wild". I've heard the movie is awesome.
BYE!

Yay for being back! It sounds like you had a lot of fun. I've always wanted to try beach volleyball, but I hate the sand, and I cry like a little girl when it gets hot. I also am the one who has to force my family to play games. When we went on vacation we played Taboo, but my team lost
That looks like an amazing roller coaster, and some delicious food. They look like little doughnuts to me. Good Luck finishing your reading in time

Welcome back!
. Cranium is a great game, glad you had fun with your family =].
Your trip sounds like it was a lot of fun. I've never heard of zeppoles, but they sound really good - and you're lucky that you got a tan, that's definitely a rarity for me
.
Six Flags is always great; that coaster looks intense!
I'm glad you liked The Kite Runner. I just checked out Into the Wild from the library - we have to read a nonfiction book for school, and it was one of the few on the list not checked out. Be sure to let me know if you like it!
I only have 3 days to read it though, hah

Haha yes it is! Oh, I LOVED the roller coaster!
I didn't realize I didn't say otherwise!
Tom
Thanks! I've actually watched a lot of the Olympics. And sorry for rubbing it in

GiX
hahahah!
I bet you could handle that roller coaster!
SMG
Haha I never used to like roller coasters until my brothers forced me to go on a big one and I loved it!
Sarah
Wow! What a coincidence!
Beaver
Haha! Are you sure you just weren't that good at beach volleyball?!
I will probably get the movie for both Into the Wild and the Kite Runner. Haha and yes, they look like potatoes in that picture! They sure don't taste like them though!
Madison
Thanks! Taboo is one of my favorites! If my family was more in the spirit then maybe we could have ventured to that one too... :/
Mdinkle
Thank you! Haha you have trouble tanning too? I will let you know if I like it, let me know if you do too! So far I can't say it's my favorite though...
Smith
Thanks! Yes they do have one! It's in Jackson. It's a really good park, although crowded, but they do have some of the record-breaking coasters there.

Welcome back.
Haha yeah, the Olympics are such a big deal so it's hard to motivate people to do something else.
Good job to your mom!
Did everyone start screaming out words that rhymed with 'Peter?' Yay for the weather! I love the sun-kissed feeling.
Zeppoles look like these cream puffs I like to eat LOL. WOW nice ride!.. really cool colours.
Glad you had fun!

Really? I thought I already commented on this the other day...oops!
I'm so jealoous of the weather you had, although I think its finally going to be dry here this week for a change. Never heard of Zeppoles - looks delicious though - like a fried dough ball.
I've never been to Six Flags in NJ, it's way bigger than the MA one though, right? That roller coaster looks awesome!

Thanks! Haha yes, the Olympics are very exciting I must admit too. Lol everyone was shouting everything that rhymes with Peter which is funny because I always think, did you honestly think I was trying to get you to guess "Feter" or "Geter"?!
Diana
Nice comment! I was screaming so much on the ride but it was so fun
Jeannine
Haha I always do that! They are soo delicious- literally a fried dough ball!
I think it's a little bigger. It's been a long time since I was at Six Flags New England so I'm not positive but I think it has more thrill rides.
Katate
Yep I did! It was INSANE
That's like the one word I'd use to describe it!
