Hey everyone! Well not much is new, but I havn't blogged since the 4th of July so thought I should catch you all up.
On Thursday night around 5:30 my brother was in a car accident, but he is ok. He was extremely lucky though because the car was totaled and all he got way a minor abrasion from the airbag deployment and a stiff neck. In a nutshell what happened was he was turning left out of a parking lot across two lanes of traffic. A lady coming in the right hand land stopped, and waved him on to go infront of her to merge into the left lane going the opposite way. When the lady stopped, he inched out but an impatient driver behind the lady skirted around the car (into the left lane!) to attempt to pass her (I know, what the hell was she thinking?!) and in doing so smashed the whole front hood from the drivers side to rougly half its size. My brother didn't need to go to the hospital or anything, he just described it as if you got hit in the head with a basketball. Now, this person who hit him had to be travelling pretty fast judging by the airbag deployment and damage to the car. Also the speed limit was 25 but, come on, like she was actually going that! He's pretty bummed because we had that car paid off, it was a Toyota Camery that was in great condition with limited miles on it and it looked like he would keep it for at least 6-10 more years. But we just have to be thankful she didn't hit the drivers side door because who knows what could have happened. ![]()
Anddd to add insult to injury (perhaps reversed...continue reading) that same brother plus my other brother went out to the bars last night with a few friends to celebrate one of the friends 21st birthday. I live in a pretty small town so just before you jump to conclusions the whole "bar" scene consists of a couple beers and a Red Sox game on the flat screen with a minimal crowd. So it was about 1 AM and they were walking downtown about to go home and they saw some old friends. My two brothers were talking with one of them and then they heard glass shatter. They turned and saw that two of the kids (one from their group, one from the recently seen group of friends) had been horsing around (not serious fighting) and crashed through the front glass of a local camera shop! Panic suddenly deployed as did a mixture of I assume curse words. One of the kids (not in the original group) had cut his wrist on the glass! Thankfully an unknown kid had previously been in Iraq and sprung into action. He took off his shirt and belt to apply pressure to the wound and told him to keep his arm up. 911 was dialed and the police were instantly there. My brother's friend that was also involved got a pretty big cut on his head and so there was panic from that as well. They stayed at the hospital until 4 AM where their friend got stitches and is now home. The other kid is stable but needed surgury and to see a specialist. His mother was a nervous wreck which is justified I suppose. Once again thankfully my brothers were not involved but you just can't be too careful after a night out.
With this event last night we have dubbed the oldest brother Charlie Brown. First the car accident, then this, and also he's job hunting as he just completed his MBA courses which as I'm sure you all know, is a pain in itself. Also he sprained his ankle pretty bad a couple nights ago playing basketball but due to the typical stubborness I guess it's just going to have to heal on its own without medical intervention. Hopefully his luck will look up soon. ![]()
The reason I mentioned Dr. Charlie Brown is because I've recently been watching that new ABC Documentary Hopkins that follows various doctors at the famed Johns-Hopkins Medical Center. I really like it- it actually shows surgeries not as dramatizations so if you're questioning a career in that field and don't know if you can stomach it, check out this show first! I saw a lung transplant last week and a heart transplant this week! It's a good summer show and there's relatively new stuff every week. There is literally a doctor named Charlie Brown which I find quite funny! ![]()
In addition to that, my summer show line-up has me hooked on The Secret Life of the American Teenager on ABC Family. Pehaps the most degrading portrayal of teenagers I've ever seen next to those MTV/VH1 dating shows, it's one of those shows that once you start watching you just want to see what happens next! I'm pretty sure no teenager's life consists of exclusively sex talk and suggestive clothing at school but hey, if it gets viewers watching, why wouldn't they do it?
For all my Office buddies, did you catch the cast on Celebrity Family Feud on Tuesday? I love it! I was a bit skeptical at first, I thought the Gladiators were going to pull away with it but then the Office came charging back with a fantastic yet cockey finish from Oscar Nunez! I didn't know a lot of those people were as funny as they are outside The Office! Like Brian, he's hilarious! And Oscar, boy was he funny. From his walking away after the obvious sudden death win answer and imitating Wolf's howling he had me laughing out loud! ![]()

I watched FF as well, I'm so glad they won! My friend and I were a bit confused as to why MNIE cast members were in character, but TO wasn't - oh well, that definitely gave us an advantage!
Sorry for the excessively long comment, have a great week!
Wow, a car crash
Just a thought, but imagine if there is a doctor out there called Charlie Brown, you really wouldn't trust him!
Tom.
Yes he definately was. It is pretty unusual for them not to go too.

Sounds like you have a tough place to turn! I hate impatient drivers too. It's just not worth it to advance that one car while risking an accident. Haha yeah Family Feud was funny! It would have been good if they were in character, but judging by what characters were there, I don't know that it would have been all that exciting lol
Ivy
Yeah, thanks. No, the car is officially totaled.
Sarah
It is an addicting show for sure! Do you think it portrays teenagers incorrectly?
Bigcity
Thank you! I know, those Iraq people are heroes in Iraq and at home!
Tom
Thanks! Yeah I know, if I went to Johns-Hopkins and the guy said, "Hi I'm Charlie Brown and I'll be your doctor." I would be a bit skeptical!
Layla
Nice to meet you!
Thanks- yeah it was not a pretty site I'm sure! Yeah I can't blame him. It was a very nice car. Plus he didn't actually have to buy it, it was my dad's car and he gave it to him.
Madison
Thanks, me too. Yeah! I thought the Gladiators were going to take it, but then they went on to beat MNIE and win fast money!
