Since I'm off on holiday (hopefully) next week for 3 weeks I thought I'd do an end of Summer TV Blog, a final summary! Breaking the new shows I tried to watch over the last few months into completely inappropriate categories ![]()
The Good
![]()
Firefly - Loved this show, it was over far too quickly. The characters (esp. Jayne!) make the show for me, they're funny without it seeming forced, the relationships are amazing... oh and plus! The fact the show is so quotable helps to make it awesome for me!
Veronica Mars - Wasn't hooked, but I enjoyed this show a lot. The Season 2 finale was amazing, and I actually liked the main character which doesn't happen too often! It was an entertaining, and light hearted show, definitely worth watching for me, glad I got round to it.
Chuck - Again, not hooked on this, but it's very entertaining and incredibly easy to watch. I love Casey especially (maybe it's just Adam Baldwin in general, swoon!) and can definitely see me rewatching this season, and watching the new one. Plus - Captain Awesome ![]()
The Ok

Damages - I really liked this show, it got me hooked quite quickly... but don't think I'd re-watch it which is why it's been lumped in the "ok" group!
Jericho - Loved the characters in this, and still think this show deserved more time, but the stories weren't always there to keep me hooked.
Six Feet Under - The Season 5 finale was awesome, and Michael C. Hall was brilliant (As always!) - but it had some slow middle few seasons for me...
Psych - Won't have time to finish watching this show this summer, only seen a few episodes, I think it's very funny, but I'm not so hooked it won't wait until my Christmas break from Uni to finish watching!
How I Met Your Mother - Good sitcom, definitely made me laugh and I'm sure I'll watch an episode here and there... but it's a sitcom so I'm not hooked!
The Ugly

Weeds - Ok so not really ugly, but it's my least favourite of all the shows I watched over the summer and something had to go here in the ugly group. It's not a bad show, I'm just not interested in how it continues.
Sarah Connor Chronicles - Again, not ugly... just not for me. I've been told it gets better, but I was bored and uninterested after 2 episodes so I'm going to put it aside and come back to it (maybe over Christmas).
-----
Aw, it's the end of summer viewing updates - Never mind! It had to end sometime. I just realised how many TV shows I've been watching... must remember to go out more! Hope everybody is okay!
Comments
Picked Dark Willow for the header because that's my favourite part of Season 6 so thought it'd make a change
Shame you don't know many of the shows, stick to the green ones first if you need a new show!
I havent watched any of those shows except for veronica mars!!! which I loved but they stopped showing in australia stupid ppl
Veronica Mars was definitely a good show, that's weird they stopped showing it for you (I pinched a friend's DVD so I've no clue when/if it showed here at all) - Hope you managed to see most of it
I would have these shows in my green area as well. Adam Baldwin is great to watch.
I might have Damages and Six Feet Under in the green category as well. Although, I am also not that interested in rewatching Damages. But I will tune in again. It is a very dark show with some fantastic stuff. And I do have a soft spot for SFU. I used to love it so much (David and Claire being a pig part of that). Brilliant dark comedy that was my favorite for a long time (since I am a late comer to Buffy & Co
I liked early Weeds but I lost track so who am I to argue with "ugly". SCC - I think I watched the pilot but I already forgot about it, so no complaints either.
Enjoy your holiday - it sounds just great. And don't forget to make a whole lot of pictures.
Adam Baldwin is my new TV crush, so I expect I'll be rambling on about him for awhile. I think it's more Jayne that I loved - but it carried over to the actor
I had Damages and Six Feet Under in green to begin with, but I felt like I was being too nice
Glad you agreed with the other choices
Tom.
I'm finding Psych pretty funny too
Love firefly aswell! Very quotable. I agree with what you said about the humour, it's not forced. Glad you liked VM!
I liked this blog, I would have placed Sarah Connor higher, but all in all we agree.
And I dont think I have to say I really like VM.
Hope you enjoy your holliday.
I'm chuffed that VM is in your "good" category..as you know its always worrying when you get someone to watch a show you love in case they don't like it. So yay for VM!
Most of the other shows I'll probably never watch but if I do decide to, you'll be my very own reviewer to let me know whether to bother!
Have a lovely holiday (Hopefully catch up with you before you go? Camera?)
I never understood why people love Firefly, but I agree it's very quotable.
I agree about Jericho, it was intriguing but not always captivating. I don't regret watching both seasons, but I probably won't see it again.
However I do love Psych and look forward to each new episode. It's one of my favorite shows.
Weeds was okay, but it never really got me hooked, and I stopped watching after the 2nd episode of the 2nd season. There was just better television to watch. I watched the first episode of the Sarah Conner Chronicles and I didn't really enjoy it either, it was okay, but I didn't feel drawn to any of the characters.
You watched all of those over the summer? Wow and I thought I was obsessed with TV. Well, I suppose I've watched a lot, just some of it is repeat viewings of the same show (such as Band of Brothers, I'm on the 3rd viewing in as many weeks).
Have an outstanding day!
I couldn't get into Firefly, it just wasn't for me. I did love the last episode, and the movie is pretty great!
I loved Firefly for the characters, can't speak for everyone else, but I just thought they were hilarious. I mean I don't like westerns and I'm not too fussed about shows based in space - so I shouldn't have liked it, but the characters just won me over
I can't say I enjoyed Firefly more than Angel, but that could because Angel had so much time to develop, whereas Firefly only got that one season. I'm not sure if I prefer Firefly to Buffy - it's tough to call, because if Buffy had only had 1 season then I'd say I prefer Firefly, but as it is - Buffy had so much more time I find it hard to compare them...
I'm looking forward to getting into Psych, the only reason I know I won't watch it is there's just not enough time left over summer.... I had a very TV few months I'll admit that
Anyway I'll stop rambling, thanks for your comment, can't say I think too differently myself
VM was definitely fun to watch for me... and HIMYM is better than I expected for a sitcom - so can't disagree with you there
good: Firefly is great^^ I watched it for the first time now this summer, and I really liked it
Chuck: well, I wasn't hooked at the beginning, but at the end I was!! really good show
VM: I'm still on the first ep of season 3, but yeeah, s.2 finale was GERAT
ok: jericho!! I watched 7 eps or something and thought it was good enough..and when I hadn't watched it for one week, I totally forgot it, and now it's like 1 month since the last time I saw it
himym: how can you not like sitcoms
ugly: weeds: I started watching the first season, and thought it was OK!! I liked some of the characters a lot, but still it wasn't the best show that I had watched!! but I LOVE the theme song
have a nice holiday
As for the holiday plans, they've been somewhat thwarted by my evil doctor who informs me he's very worried about me flying next week because I have a very nasty ear infection - so I'm drugged up on 2 different types of medication hoping I'll be well enough to fly next Thursday! But I've got my fingers crossed all will be well. My doctor just freaked me out a little bit
10 shows in 3 weeks?! I think you're underestimating me
thanks so much, I'm sure I'll have a great holiday - always nice to have a break away. It'll be my first holiday in 3 years
Sarah: Too many shows I think
Really? I didn't like any of characters on Firefly aside from Jayne (he's freaking hilarious and I love Adam Baldwin). The whole thing from top to bottom just wasn't to my taste for some reason.
Agreed about Dollhouse -- hopefully it's not too sci-fiy. That would lead to badness.
I'd definitely recommend Firefly, but it seems (from what I can tell) it's a love it or hate it type of show
Firefly was definitely over too quickly. I re-watched it this summer and it didn't take long unfortunately
Chuck is definitely helped by Adam Baldwin's awesome-ness
That sounds nasty indeed. I hope the meds work and no more skipping sleep till then! *wags her finger*
Get well soon!
Gix: Glad you had a good time...
