The Challenge: Pick any 5 memorable aspects from any TV show over the last year (memorable aspects can be characters, moments, episodes, relationships etc!)
I've tried to put a bit of variety in here, these aren't my top 5, it'd be too hard to do that so these are just the first 5 I thought of, as a word of warning, obviously as this whole blog is about moments from the last season of whatever show I'm talking about - it's probably best to avoid reading about any show you haven't seen yet so as to avoid spoilers!
Character: Alpha, Dollhouse

So one of my favourite new characters in TV this last season was Alpha from Dollhouse, without question. The threat of Alpha was my favourite story of Dollhouse, I haven't been Dollhouse's biggest fan, I mostly just enjoyed rather than loved it - but I always liked the idea of Alpha. Then Alan Tudyk came into an episode and I was really happy as he was playing the quirky funny type character I expected of him... needless to say that didn't last! I was shocked when he was Alpha (not sure if I was the only one and everybody else expected it!); but I loved him, he was creepy, and menacing...but still had funny lines. I think the best part of the Alpha character is it wasn't what I was expecting yet it worked so well, and Alan Tudyk is such an underrated actor... I have to say I loved Dollhouse just for him in the last 2 episodes - for me he was the best aspect of the show (which I'm sure many will disagree with!). But yeah - can you tell, I loved Alpha?! Not sure if I was too subtle...
Entrance: Castiel, Supernatural (1min 20 sec is where it kicks off for me!)

One of my favourite entrances in the last year of TV was Castiel's in Supernatural, I mean wow! I loved the idea of bringing in the Angel storyline, although I definitely remember thinking those wings don't look so angelic! I'm not sure what other people think of Castiel in general, he's ok for me (I still watch it for the brothers, and the brothers alone!) - but I loved his big entrance scene. Awesome TV! I couldn't look away and I remembered it first for this challenge despite it being the very first episode of the last Supernatural season - which is a sign that it was a great TV moment for me!
Finale: Chuck

I loved Chuck this season, much more so than season 1. There were so many moments in the last few episodes that were brilliant - I narrowed it down to just 3 moments in the last episode, which were Jeffster, Casey coming to the rescue and of course, Kung Fu Chuck! So this favourite really just refers to the Chuck finale; I think it was one of my favourite finales across all the shows I watch - it had so many funny moments, and dramatic moments - awesome! Although have to say, I was half expecting Kung Fu Chuck... but that still didn't quite prepare for the true wonder that was that finale... "Chuck Me" indeed !!
Storyline: Consequences of Vicodin, House

This storyline was amazing, great TV. Personally for me House just got fantastic towards the end of this season (not sure if that's a popular opinion or not); having also seen the Grey's Anatomy version of "hallucinations", I can say without a doubt that House is so so much better! I loved the progression of this storyline through the episodes and have to say all my pictures refer to House's realization that he hadn't kicked the habit and been with Cuddy - and I just loved and hated that moment all at the same time. I was absolutely surprised, but loved it, all building up to another brilliant finale... I think I liked it so much because typically House is very much about the individual episode, different patients and stories every week but this just felt like such a change in such a good way! I was a little disappointed about the House and Cuddy moment not being real but somehow I didn't feel cheated (unlike...no names mentioned...cough....Booth and Brennan...cough!).
Relationship: Penny and Sheldon

Ok so first off - I know this as a romantic relationship is all in my head. My hubby insists I'm crazy for this one, but it's there!! It's totally there!! Sadly, for this choice I can only talk about the platonic relationship as everybody (including the guy who plays Sheldon!) is denying anything more could exist! I love these two together, their dynamic is perfect - always funny and entertaining... The Christmas hug and the whole story preceding it were absolutely hilarious, and who can forget Penny singing Sheldon to sleep - "Soft kitty, warm kitty" ! I know the relationship will probably never progress anywhere but I love them as friends, and would just love it that little bit more if they were a proper couple!! Awesome characters individually, so I don't even have words to describe the Super-Awesomeness that is them together! ![]()
Other Worthy Mentions:

I'm not going to talk about these, but I watch so many shows now (a seriously insane number I can't bring myself to share!) so it was really really hard for me to cut it down to just 5 moments, so here's 3 more, which are: Bones - Brennan sharing her sad story to Sweets (so emotional and unexpected for her!), Pushing Daisies - Chuck hugging Ned through a plastic sheet on the roof and Dexter - the whole storyline surrounding Miguel was awesome!
There were so many more great characters and moments in TV this last year (needless to say the Bones finale will not be featuring in this list!!), be interesting to know what your favourites were...
Anyway, I better stop thinking about it or I'll remember too many other moments! Have a great week ![]()
The Challenge: From any TV Show pick 5 character introductions that you liked (ie: The scene the character was first seen in). Plus - explain why you like the introduction the character had so much!
Character: Chuck
TV Show: Pushing Daisies

Ned: "Chuck came ready made from the Play-Doh Fun Factory of Life"
Entrance Scene: Chuck is dressed up as a dinosaur crushing play-doh people.
This is a different choice for me, because, Chuck's entrance to the show isn't played by the actress everybody now knows as Chuck (Anna Friel). This Chuck is played by Sammi Hanratty and as viewers we're introduced to "Young Chuck" before we meet grown up Chuck... but it's completely in line with how the show continues. I love this entrance partly because they're (Chuck & Ned) both dressed up like dinosaurs and crushing their little fake town they created, which sounds like something I wish I'd done - but also because it's so quirky and told me everything I'd need to know about future grown up Chuck... namely she's strange and quite fun! Plus who doesn't love that quote!
Character: River
TV Show: Firefly

Mal: "Let's see what a man like you would kill for"
Entrance Scene: Mal opens a sealed crate and finds River inside
River isn't my favourite character in this show (maybe if the show had more time she could have been) - but nobody can deny that she has a pretty dramatic entrance. Found inside a crate (not sure what else to call it) and scaring everybody when she suddenly wakes up, clearly terrified herself. I think it's an awesome scene, it's a shocking image, very dramatic - makes you instantly wonder what happened to the character, and what will happen to her. She may have funnier scenes, more kick-arse scenes and more confusing scenes as the show goes on - but her entrance is probably still my favourite. Plus it's the little "Huh" you hear from Mal which just echoes what I was thinking at that point! Awesome character entrance!
Character: Illyria
TV Show: Angel

Illyria: "Bleat at me no longer. We're done"
Entrance Scene: Fred dies, and in her place (and body) Illyria stands up with her dramatically altered appearance.
It's weird because I don't think I've mentioned Illyria much in my blogs - perhaps because I hadn't seen Angel in awhile (until this summer!). She has a brilliant entrance to Angel mostly because it's not over the top, but it's sudden. The loss of Fred, the gain of Illyria happens quickly, the close up of her eye and then suddenly it's Illyria standing up - and her presence is undeniable. Perhaps it's such a good entrance because you're already emotionally charged because of losing Fred, but her quote at the end of the scene just sums up her entrance for me - she wants nothing to do with the life Fred had, she has her own agenda. I know Twisted Converse said it before me but I have to agree, Illyria's design was amazing - and as a first impressions go, it was a dramatic one. Anyway, I loved this entrance, despite having to sacrifice a great character to get it.
Character: Rachel
TV Show: Friends

Ross: "I just want to be married again"
Entrance Scene: Rachel runs into the coffee shop in a huge wedding gown.
I love this as a character entrance - it sets the show up perfectly for me. Ross just wants to be married again, Rachel's his long-time crush, in runs Rachel in a wedding dress. It's perfect! Plus who doesn't love early ditzy Rachel. It's fun, and silly... exactly what you'd expect from a sitcom, and although a little dated (having just watched this scene the clothes and hair made me cringe a little) - it's still a great way to introduce a character. This is the first character entrance I remembered for this challenge - because who forgets the character you meet for the first time running into a coffee shop in a giant wedding gown. There's little more I can say about this scene - except that I loved it - it sets up the character and show brilliantly!
Character: Claire
TV Show: Heroes

Claire: "This is Claire Bennett. That was attempt number six."
Entrance Scene: Claire climbs to the top of a bridge and jumps off, followed by her picking herself up and healing.
I'm not a huge Claire fan, but jumping off a bridge and then just getting up from it is a pretty impressive introduction. I think that was when I thought I was going to love the show - it just sets up Claire perfectly, her character might have changed in some respects but if you look at Season 3 now - she's pretty much in the same place. I like that it was a shock, it was kind of disgusting when she 'fixed' herself after the fall, and it just left that awesome first impression. Sure, it's kind of old and boring now seeing Claire die, because we her game plan is just to let herself die and then bring herself back - but we didn't know that back then... and it was all novel - so for me, Claire had a brilliant entrance to the show (shame she didn't keep up that level of entertainment for me!).
---
So there you go! They were my choices! They weren't my favourite characters out of the shows by far, but I loved the way they were introduced to their shows. It was a close call with Darla from Buffy almost being up in my list, but in the end it was too tough to call (Elly - this doesn't count as a cheat!). Hope you liked my list - Any others I missed?
The Challenge: Under the categories Music, Movies, TV & Famous People list a few examples of the things you're embarrassed to admit that you love! It can be as specific as an episode, or a song - or as vague as a show or a genre! This challenge aims to list the things that I love despite other people not being so keen on them. Don't judge me too harshly!!
Tiny Disclaimer: Please don't be offended if you see something you like on my list - it's all in good fun, and after all - I'm admitting to liking these people/things too! Everything in this list is just things/people that I'm relatively embarrassed to admit I like because of the type of person I am.... doesn't mean there's anything wrong with any of them! Also apologies for excessive links in this blog - by no means should you click them all just anything you're particularly interested in. Anyway onto my list!
Embarrassing Television

Probably the most embarrassing TV that I watch and hate to admit is what I'll ****as "Talent Reality TV Shows" - as a general rule, I hate Reality TV - it's a cheap way for a studio to get a lot of viewers watching nothing but other people desperate for their five minutes of fame... but I have a soft spot for reality TV that is geared towards uncovering a talent. Particularly, Dancing On Ice, So You Think You Can Dance & America's Next Top Model. It's embarrassing because I know the quality of this TV is questionable - these programmes definitely don't represent the best TV has to offer... yet I usually feel compelled to watch them - I love the Photoshoots on America's Next Top Model, the choreography in So You Think You Can Dance and (fairly obviously) the Ice Skating in Dancing on Ice.
Embarrassing Movies

So loads of movies I love are ridiculous and I know it! There are too many to name, but the movies I'm ashamed to like tend to fall into 2 categories, "Over the Top Action Movies", usually from the 80s or early 90s and usually star Arnie, or Stallone, perfect examples are: Total Recall (stick around for 1min30secs... "Consider this a divorce!"), True Lies ("Did you ever kill someone?" ... "Yes, but they were all bad!") or Demolition Man . They have the cliché lines, the crazy action sequences, and usually a plot which isn't the most complex thing imaginable - yet they are definite guilty pleasures of mine... I love the one liners, and although I may find some parts cringe worthy, it just adds to their charm for me!
The other embarrassing movies that I love are only embarrassing because I tend to avoid ridiculous humour if I can help it! But I just recently (blame my husband who loves these movies) - have taken a fondness for my 2nd category of film I call "Silly Comedies!" - they're embarrassing to me because they don't normally make sense, they're completely ridiculous and don't require you to think at all when watching them - yet if I'm in the right mood... they can be very good for a giggle. Things like Eurotrip (if you've seen it - you may also, like me, be a fan of 'Scotty Doesn't Know!' with Matt Damon), or Blades of Glory ... even Semi Pro. I wasn't a fan of Will Ferrell for a long time - I just didn't get his appeal, and I'm embarrassed to say, that now, maybe I do - but only in some movies!
Embarrassing People

I thought this was easy at first - but it worked out more difficult then I had anticipated... I finally decided on admitting to a few embarrassing crushes I've had for far too long... the main one being on Phillip Seymour Hoffman! Please don't judge me too much, I know he's not "traditionally" attractive, and don't get me wrong, he's no Jeffrey Dean Morgan - but there's something about him that I just think is just appealing, although I don't really know what! I've also got a soft spot for Greg Grunberg and Jack Black - and the reason I'm classing all these people as embarrassing people to have a crush on is just because they're not the Brad Pitts of the world, in some cases they're more cuddly then most, or they're a little strange/play strange characters... and for the most part people will disagree with me that they're attractive... but I happen to think they're very good looking guys!
The only other person that could possibly go in this category is David Hasselhoff - I want to clear this up right away - I definitely DO NOT have a crush on him, nor do I find him attractive - but I am embarrassed that I like him! I just find him absolutely hilarious for all the wrong reasons. I know people hate this guy, but the level of cheese surrounding him makes him sort of my hero! He refers to himself as "The Hoff" - and he has his own phrase "Don't Hassle The Hoff", not to mention his numerous exploits on Baywatch, or his singing career! This man is so over the top, so comical, he's like a caricature of a caricature - and he doesn't even know it! Pure cheese, gotta love him. At least I do!
Embarrassing Music

So probably the most embarrassing music I love revolves around the 80s, I've managed to split it into 2 different categories, first we have: "Big Haired 80s Music!" - this consists of things like White Snake (Here I Go Again), Def Leppard (Pour Some Sugar On Me), Poison (Talk Dirty To Me), Bon Jovi (Living on a Prayer) - and about a million more! It's embarrassing not just because of the hair, (although that is a major factor) but because it tends to be a little over the top and more than just a little silly. I however, love it - the hair is so similar to my own (before I've straightened it of course!) and it's always a lot of fun to sing along to!
My other embarrassing music I love from the 80s , I've quite aptly labelled "Cheesy 80s Pop", featuring the wonders of ABBA (which admittedly was 70s as well, but it crosses over well, see Super Trooper for example!), Wham (Wake me up), The Police (Every Little Thing She Does is Magic) and again - many many more! I think this is so embarrassing because I know it's bad, it is after all, very cheesy - but it's so cheesy it never fails to make me smile and it's the perfect music to do the cleaning to! Another very very embarrassing album I happen to love would be The Little Mermaid Soundtrack, I know it's Disney... so again cheese a plenty - but it's probably my favourite Disney film it's so cute, how can you not love Under The Sea or Kiss The Girl.
Misc. Embarrassing!

I'm not going to talk to excessively here (I've done that already), but worthy embarrassing things I love that just didn't fit into the other categories is the PC game "Fairy Godmother Tycoon" - it's hideous sounding I know, but it's awesome!! It's only a tiny game, and its over in like an hour or two if you play it - but I loved it! I easily could fit games like The Sims in here too, although I haven't played in awhile - it's a little embarrassing too, mostly because I'm 22, I'm married and well... it's not a very grown up thing to play - or so I've been told! Other than that the only other thing I can bring myself to mention is one of my prized possessions, a flashing (colour changing) rubber duck for the bath. Yes they're tacky, a little pointless and completely embarrassing - but they're awesome! A duck that changes colour while you relax in the bath - what more is there in this world!
Hope you don't all hate me now! I know I have bad taste, I just can't help it!! Here take a look at these good looking men and remember I'm not completely awful!! Oh and incase it wasn't completely obvious, I'm back from my holiday! and due to start Uni for my final year tomorrow... eek! Hope you're all ok!!
