This is my new banner. It is my daughter Beth's first attempt at designing one for me. I think that she has done a great job. She has got together four of my favourite actors. Just looking at them makes my toes tingle lol. Ever since she joined The Signature and Tag Making Team she has improved so much. Beth has been practicing her art work on the pc for a few weeks now and when she has got enough pictures I'm going to suggest that she makes her own gallery.

Posted Jul 17, 2008 1:35 pm PT
Looks good. What does she use to make them? I could do with making a banner.

I can't see it...

Posted Jul 27, 2008 6:13 am PT
The one on the left is a character called Captain Jack Harkness.....played by John Barrowman. he's in Torchwood and the other guy is Dr Who played by David Tennant..

Thats really good and I don't blame you for liking those actors, they're all awesome. Tell your daughter to keep up the good work.

Do you remember George and the Dragon that and another I have been watching on replays is Joanna Lumley and David McCallum in Sapphire and Steel.

those with The Avengers and The Saint are my favourite older telly shows along with of course Zorro and naturally Danger Mouse...the best cartoon evah.

"He's a bad'un by gum!" - Penfold.

Yes I remember all of those. Sapphire & Steel and the Avengers were 2 of the best. Do you watch them on your pc or do you get TV channels that show oldies?
Posted Jul 29, 2008 5:39 am PT
BOTH - but the PC is more reliable, can watch them whenever I wish. Simon Templar and The Avengers have been very popular on this side of the pond for simply ages and DM has a become a cult hero here too

Most of the new shows just aren't as good as the oldies - keep trying to be "socially relevant" instead of entertaining .... If I wanted to be taught a lesson i wouldn't turn on the telly in the first place. I want entertainment or football - preferably Chelsea or Wednesday.

Love that new avatar - but does that mean when you enter the room everyone else hides behind the sofa?

EX - TER - MIN - ATE

Respect!!!! that's what I want lol. I wanted a moving dalek avatar but I couldn't find one so this will do.
Talking about "socially relevant" TV programmes...I was watching kiddies TV with my Granddaughter the other day and I noticed that ALL of the programmes promoted either healthy eating or exercise. The presenters had the kids jumping, running and dancing around like demented fleas. What happened to the days when kids sat down and listened to stories. My daughter Beth helps run a Church youth group for 5 to 14 year olds and she says that 85% of them are totally incapable of sitting still quietly and listening. They just want to run around shouting most of the time, either that or they are messing with mobile phones & ipods.
I told her that children should be seen and not heard but she found that idea hilarious.

this younger generation is obsessed with the idea of molding the children in order to avoid to avoid their mistakes.

All they have done is make things worse, I'm afraid. Should bring back the original Mickey Mouse club and get over all the self esteem classes and this other "feel good" crap and just let them play and be kids things would be going a lot better.

Most of the poor little things had no idea what it meant to lack self esteem until they are thrown into these stupid classes and had the idea drummed into their heads - now there is a generation of little girls that is constantly worried about that very thing.

either that or like you said - so hyper active no one can manage to keep an eye on them - and now they wonder how things got out of control.

You are probably going to hate me for this... but who is second from the right?
Posted Aug 6, 2008 12:31 pm PT
2nd from the right is David Tennant aka Dr Who.......he is also staring as Hamlet at Stratford upon Avon this summer.

So Babs, is your daughter going to come back to the Talk About it Union? Things seemed to have settled down, and if I remember correctly she always had insightful posts.
Posted Aug 7, 2008 1:10 pm PT
She is still trying to make her mind up, but I hope that she does..
Posted Aug 8, 2008 1:42 am PT
Very nice banner, babs. Beth did a great job on it.
Posted Aug 10, 2008 11:46 am PT
I agree, she is making great designs thanks to the Sig & Tag Making Team. She needs more practice at rendering though.

It's a pretty nice banner! She has been improving much.....and I didn't even knew her mother was here too!

Had some friends going on holiday to Oregon for the Shakespeare festival. I told them that if I were going to spend a week watching that Bard's plays I would jolly well go to Stratford on Avon. They proved to me what genuine fans of both William and Britain they are by saying:

"Where?"

Sheesh - these colonials really get me sometimes
Posted Aug 15, 2008 3:21 am PT
Lol Iowa. I sometimes think that the poor "colonials" would have been much better off under British rule. Nope I've changed my mind...no one is well of under British rule, not even the British!!!
