Two things:
1. Apparently I was last online in 1969, before Al Gore had even invented the internet.
2. Apparently I have read over 1.2 million posts. Granted, some of that is because I skipped to the very end of 5,000+ post threads, but still...

Thanks for the moral support, ainho
. I've never really blogged before, mostly because I can't think of anything interesting to say.
Oh, and the mystery of my time-traveling profile is solved. Java, which runs all the graphics on TV.com, tells time by using an "epoch date" (Jan. 1, 1970) and counting the seconds that have elapsed since then. When there's a glitch and the counter reads 0, this is interpreted as midnight on Jan. 1, 1970. Because this is in Greenwich Mean Time, that translates to 4PM on Dec. 31, 1969 on the West Coast.
So I guess my profile had its own mini version of Y2K... except in 2008.

That's so weird - we had a similar issue at work yesterday when our accounting software turned our books back to 1996. Except I'm not really sure what happened there...I'm just not computer-savvy enough I guess

1969? That is pretty cool...anyway to explain the 1.2 million? Or is that a factual number...hmmm...

I'm not even sure if I've "received" one of those glitches. Since I (obviously) haven't been here much... meh.
But that must have been fun.
By the way, I searched about Al Gore and what you said... 'cause I wasn't sure if that was a joke or what- and I couldn't make a conclusion, some people will keep saying he's a liar, but some others say his words were taken out of context.
The truth is...?

...inconvenient (sorry, couldn't resist).
Yes, Al Gore is often misquoted. I think the actual quote is something along the lines of: "I took the initiative in creating the internet." So basically he gave the political support needed to develop the internet in its early days. But it was a badly worded statement that made him sound like a pompous jackass.

big_haircut: Aha, I knew it! Y2K8 has come! Must stock up on canned food, bottled water and nuclear fallout shelters...
Mdinkle1: Thanks! I'm not 100% sure, but this might be the first time we've conversed directly. Weird. Anyways, it's good to hear from you.
Ada: You know, at first I thought the 1.2 million might be accurate, since it would be consistent with my complete lack of a life. But then I did a quick calculation. I've been a TV.com member for 133 days now, which would mean I'm averaging almost 9,500 posts read per day. I don't think that's even physically possible, because I haven't run across many threads much longer than 5,000. The only explanation I can come up with, other than a glitch, is that maybe I ran across a million-post thread somewhere along the way with a heavily debated topic, like religion or politics or Jamie Lynn Spears.

And by the way, I'm very happy that you wrote something. I found you many times (Insane_Beaver or Hunter's) and when I came it was nothing written to comment about
