It's been a while since I've made a new blog post, from before I shifted house. I've decided to make an effort here, start updating on a weekly basis, what I've been up to for the previous week, so here goes.

I BOUGHT SOME NEW STUFF:

Last Sunday was Sound Centre Music Gallery's 20th (I think) Birthday, at the Morley store.. They had some live music going, a massive sale and a draw to win an ESP Kirk Hammet Guitar. I didn't win, but I bought some new gear to mess around with. I bought myself a Boss OD-3 Overdrive Pedal and a Vox Wah-Wah pedal. I'm quite enjoying the Wah-Wah pedal, makes a nice change to the sound (for those that don't know, it's supposed to emulate the human vocal chords a bit and create a wah sound when you adjust the pedal). I demoed the OD-3 on a Gibson SG in store, but it sounds pretty different when I play it on my Epiphone Special model (Les Paul knockoff). It lost alot of the sound I was chasing anyway. It's to be expected though, different guitar, different pickups, gear, woods/shape etc.

Recently, Vodafone rang me as my contract with them was finally up. I'd wanted to get one for a while, so I ordered an iPhone. Let me get one thing straight - I don't like apple, I've never liked apple computers, nor have I ever owned an apple iPod or anything like that. The iPhone hasn't changed my mind on this - I like the phone itself, I think it works well, but I don't like that out of the box it's as useless as a soggy tissue, to actually make it useful you need to purchase apps for it, which isn't so bad, but if everybody who buys an iPhone buys a $2.00 app, that's alot of money apple has made from selling what comes free on other phones.

Also, iTunes sucks. What a crappy program - More than once i've lost all the music on the phone because it's been plugged into somebody elses computer at some stage. You'd think I'd learn.

and to top that off, I bought the American Chopper Toolchest, a copy of Battlefield: Bad Company and a copy of Gothic Universe.

WHAT I'VE BEEN WATCHING:

Recently I've been watching things out of my usual diet of shows. I mentioned before I bought a copy of the American Chopper Toolchest - The only time I'd actually watched this show prior to this purchase was when I was in Bali last year, and I really enjoyed it then. I've been hammering through the discs the last few days, I find some of the stuff that they do amazing, really, and Mikey really makes me laugh. I can see why they brought him into the show.

Also, I've been watching alot of Man vs. Wild. I've read on the internet that the show is staged, that Bear Grylls stays in hotels, not in leaf and stick shelters and that he eats lobster for dinner - I don't care though. If he goes and sleeps in a comfy hotel bed, that's fine, because he just ate a goddamn eyeball, or scorpion, or raw fish, or snake, or meat from a carcass that's been sitting in the snow for a few days. Some of the stuff he does just blows me away, and I think that's why I enjoy the show so much.

WHAT I'VE BEEN PLAYING:

I played a bit of Battlefield: Bad Company. I think I like it, but the controls took some getting used to, as does the aiming. I don't know what it is, but I can't seem to get a handle on pointing my gun at somebodies face. I'm Ok at FPS' usually, Halo, Crysis, none of those pose a problem, just Bad Company. Odd.

I have to laugh at the antics of Sweetwater and Haggard though, a couple of clowns if there ever was some. If you haven't seen it, take a look at the Snake Eyes trailer linked at the bottom of the post, this video is what prompted me to go find a copy in the first place.

Also, I've been playing a bit of Gothic 1. I'd played Gothic 2 in the past. I enjoyed it, but I never got very far, so when I saw Gothic Universe going cheap at EB Games, I decided to pick up a copy. Naturally, I started with Gothic 1. I've not got very far, chapter 2, I believe, but then I've not played it a great deal. I intend to play some more on the weekend, but chances are I'll get sucked into some sort of real life adventure and I won't get the time.

Also, I've been playing through Assassin's Creed again. I bought a 42" Hisense 1080P LCD from JBHifi a while back, and I wanted to see what it was like on that. Playing it again has caused all my memories as to why I loved it to come flooding back, and now I'm super hyped to play the sequel. I'll just say, that was a wicked trailer. I'll link it at the bottom for anybody who wants to see it.

Well, that's pretty much it. Expect the same sort of thing again next week. Hopefully, the more I do it, the better I get.
