In a time when so many bands sound the same, its great to hear such an original group as Rasputina. With the basic set up of 2 cellos and a drum set, they can make some awe-inspiring music. They can turn from an almost psychedelic sound, to an energenitic (and sometimes distorted) sound between songs.
There sound is always progressing, starting out with an almost \"acoustic\" sound on \"Thanks for the Ether\" to a very \"electric\" sound on \"Cabin Fever\", to their country influenced (at least from the songs I have heard) release with \"Frustration Plantation\".
One thing is for sure, as long as Rasputina is around making music, there will always be something original and good to listen too. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to listen to something a little outside the norm.
Song Recommendations: Transylvania Concubine, Gingerbread Coffin, My Little Shirtwaist Fire.
