So apparently, Infinity Ward is now inviting celebrities to play Modern Warf--I mean... Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (so I don't piss off those fanboys out there), and see how the game feels and stuff like that. Oh yeah, 50 Cent played the game along with the guys from that one band Good Charlotte, as I've been informed.

Giant bomb.

So why did I mention 50 Cent? Because he's going to record voice roles for Modern Warfare 2. That's right, 50 Cent...doing voices...in Modern Warfare 2. To be specific, 50 himself has stated his role is described as "The Multi-Player Role." So...he'll be doing voices of a squad member in the multiplayer/spec-ops modes. I heard Dane Cook might even be in it. Who knows...

I can imagine it now. His lines are probably going to be like these (If you've seen some footage of Blood on the Sand, you'll be familiar with these lines):

- "I'ma kill ya'll mutha****in' b****es!!!"
- "Watch out fo' that grenade, b****!!!"
- "Yo fitty! Jump off over that big-*ss ramp!!"
- "Playtime's over, b****es!!"
- I'ma kill ya' whole generation, mutha*****s!!"

I could seriously go on.

So has Infinity Ward, by letting these celebrities voice their game think it'll appeal more to gamers and sell more? Right now, I just think it's such a weird fit for 50 Cent being in this kind of game. Is he the worst actor they could ever find? I don't really think so, it's just strange for 50 Cent yelling lines like the ones I wrote above. But it won't really stop me from playing the game anyways. I guess that's a good thing.

EDIT: I just edited a tad bit or that last paragraph right there, because some people misinterpreted what I meant to say, sorry about that.

lmao wow... I'm going to pass on this, hate how they make a CoD game every year now xD And this whole issue with their unorganized numbering system plus multiple studios (Treyarch + Infinity Ward) seems unnecessarily complex. xD CoD has become like Guitar Hero

Well I don't mind celebrity voices in games. That would actually be cool. But not the people they picked for MW2. I mean for example good choice of celebrity voice acting would be Brutal Legend with Jack Black voicing the main characters and other rock legends voicing other characters.

Yo, Fiddy. Jump dat big *** ramp.

Sorry, I had to

Well they are aware that celebrities don't sell their games, so maybe they're just doing it for fun? Who knows. Either way, i'm still playing it as well.
Posted Aug 7, 2009 10:14 pm PT
lol that's gonna be cool
Posted Aug 7, 2009 10:16 pm PT
Hm, I might pass on this game if its too similar to Modern Warfare as I am still having a lot of fun with that game.
Posted Aug 7, 2009 10:50 pm PT
That's very strange... I don't mind Good Charlotte, but 50 Cent would just be... weird
Posted Aug 7, 2009 11:20 pm PT
oh man... your lines seriously made me LOL...

Anyway, I guess this will attract more people to purchase the game. It's all about business!

hahahaha I love your reaction, but I think it's mislead. Honestly it's time for videogames to take a step forward, where certain voice actors begin to become mainstream and demandable (like actors in movies) In order for this to happen, developers take the steps of inviting actual celebrities, like 50, vin diesel or like GH having Ozzy, Travis Barker and Sting in their newest game. Yes, it's for sales, but it's also to take the steps to developing the gaming industry to become more mainstream.

As for my opinion, I don't mind the voices at all, maybe 50 WANTED to be in the game, made some calls, and got an offer. Yes, he's getting paid for it, but I think it was something both parties wanted. Also I think 50 will fit in well as a Marine voice over in MP hahaha @ Gr33nHippo
CoD developes annually because it's led by two companies. When games like CoD, GH and sports titles become so popular and sell so well, why NOT develope them annually?

I'm a bit of an anti-modern warfare fan, I only really like the WWII ones and im not a big fan of the,, as long as the game does'nt feature 50cents music or show a scense of him geting shot I may actually watch that bit

@imortal: because people (or just me...) dont see justification in spending $60 a year for a game thats just a minor improvement over the past one xD I'd rather they take the time, and develop something that truly improves upon the last and sets a new standard - of course, the games still sell like crack and the companies are only gaining from this tactic, but thats only a commercial viewpoint on it. It just is more respectable to see franchises that don't go down this path, like the Zelda series which tries to reinvent itself every game, releasing titles after much, much effort is put into design.

It's not a bad thing. Don't let yourself get convinced that it is. It's only in co-op multiplayer, as well.
Posted Aug 8, 2009 1:40 am PT
Wierd,50 cent are serious infinity,i don't want him every time the enemy throws a grenade to say(watch out fo' that grenade ,b....!!!)
Posted Aug 8, 2009 1:42 am PT
lol, wow wtf
Posted Aug 8, 2009 3:59 am PT
wow... that's some news
Posted Aug 8, 2009 4:27 am PT
Haha, 50 Cent
Posted Aug 8, 2009 5:14 am PT
You know what those people say... "Ain't nuttin'... but a thang!!!"

What do you mean "those people"??? What do YOU mean "those people"???

HUH???!!!!

Celebs and voice acting go together like lemon juice and milk... nothing good ever happened from this nonsense!!!! At least not in video games
Posted Aug 8, 2009 7:36 am PT
they did this so more people are going to buy by the time this game lauches half the world will have this game lol
Posted Aug 8, 2009 8:05 am PT
Celebrity voices are always good in a game.

I got From Russia With Love which is a mediocre play only because Sean Connery did the voice acting for James Bond. that made it worthwhile.

50 cent however will not induce me if I did not already lean towards the game. I do not think that random cursing is not an incentive
Posted Aug 8, 2009 11:23 am PT
@Gr33nhippo: Yeah I agree. I hear cash cows coming out of it already.

@Minishdriveby: Not saying that 50 Cent is the worst choice in the world, but it's a questionable choice by Infinity Ward. Yeah they should've probably chosen their people carefully.

@aaronmullan: lol I guess you've played Blood on the Sand or seen some footage
Posted Aug 8, 2009 11:32 am PT
@Setsuka13: They probably are. But it's such a weird fit having 50 Cent and Good Charlotte guys though, not that I'm saying they're bad. Just...weird lol

@jaykho213: Lol I don't know about that

@david_Ick: It probably has the same mechanics as MW1, but I think I might play it when it comes out. I'll find out if it's actually worth playing even with the same stuff present.
Posted Aug 8, 2009 11:35 am PT
@Bioshockraptor: I think they're all weird to be in it, actually but I don't think they're bad voice actors at all, tbh. It's just a weird fit lol

@Yuna7780: Lol well in 50 Cent's Blood on the Sand, you can taunt enemies, and he curses alot so yeah

@xXI_IMoRTaL_IXx: Lol honestly, I don't think 50 Cent is a bad voice actor at all. I just think it's such a weird fit for him and even Good Charlotte being in Modern Warfare 2. I'm just skeptical about how they'll sound in the game...if you've seen some footage of Blood on the Sand and the way they talk...*sigh* lol
Posted Aug 8, 2009 11:41 am PT
@Hanzoadam: Lol there's a chance some of his music will be in it, something that, hopefully, doesn't come through

@GreggD: No I don't think it's the worst persona they could ever pick, it's just so weird for him being in this game.

@1995_1996_1997: Jeez, I hope not lol that would be so annoying to deal with, especially during multiplayer, which he will play in.
Posted Aug 8, 2009 11:44 am PT
@travisstaggs: Lol I know, right?

@taraboi1: Isn't it?

@SGTiD1NG0: Lol yeah, it's fiddy cent.
Posted Aug 8, 2009 11:45 am PT
@gdw0908: I just think it's such a weird fit for them to be in this kind of game. I'd probably see 50 Cent play in a gangster-type of a game, not Modern Warfare 2. It's not the worst, just weird.

@NuKkU: It'll attract the hardcore 50 Cent fans and the game will sell more

@iowastate: No I don't think he's a bad actor at all. It's just strange for him to play a role in a game like this. Maybe put him in a gangster game or something, but something like MW2 is something weird for him to be there.
Posted Aug 8, 2009 11:49 am PT
I am not saying I do not think he is a good actor - just not one of my faves.

there are some that will induce me to buy a game, he is probably not one of them but this game stands on its own anyway.
Posted Aug 8, 2009 11:55 am PT
Fair enough.
Posted Aug 8, 2009 3:13 pm PT
I don't know what to say. If it isn't too "in your face," I'll deal with it.
Posted Aug 8, 2009 8:29 pm PT
I'll still play it. But hearing 50 Cent's voice is a little bit too weird for me.
Posted Aug 8, 2009 9:34 pm PT
I doubt their roles in the game would actually impact the overall experience. At least I hope not. Those one liners are hilarious though...
Posted Aug 10, 2009 7:14 am PT
LMAO at what you stated about 50. Anyways, we'll see how well he truly did come November.
Posted Aug 20, 2009 2:23 pm PT
XDD ROLF 50 cent ahh Dane Cook WTF? Well Dane cook might bring some comedy into the game and good Charlotte nice... But 50 cent OMG
Posted Aug 22, 2009 5:50 pm PT
@Asian_Pride69

I don't mind 50 cent & COD MW 2 is already going to break records, They don't need stuff like this but I think it wouldn't hurt......
