What a whirlwind this holiday season has been! It sounds like all of my friends here in tv.com land had a nice holiday. I wish all of you a happy, healthy and safe 2009.

I just thought that I'd fill you in on my past week. The big kick off was Christmas Eve. We went to my in-law's place. There are 8 grandchildren on that side of the family aging from 13-5. They were all pretty much in the same room- and it was LOUD. They had a great time visiting, but I spent the evening looking for the eggnog.

My father-in-law brought out his accordion and the kids sang Christmas songs along with him. It really was special. My son, Eric, (the soloist) sang "I'm getting nothing for Christmas." It was cute. My other son, Alex, sang "Come All Ye Faithful." He did a lovely job. It was very nice. The others all did songs of their own. It was sweet and entertaining. Photobucket

Christmas Day began with my kiddies opening their gifts. This year was not as exciting for them as last year, but there were not disappointed. The gift that they received that I have enjoyed the most was Rockband 2. It seems that I am now a Rock Star. Yes, my friends, I may be leaving the teaching profession to further my ambitions as a RockBand drummer. I am really loving the time that I am spending with the kids making music. Its cool. Plus, we have our own band- called "Mom's Basement Band." Aren't we just original? The only problem is that Alex and I have argued a bit over who was going to be the drummer. These types of arguments are typical with rockers- so it isn't a big deal. We compromised by taking turns. I am not a diva. Yet.

The majority of the day was spent with my side of the family and it was at my mother's house. We had a very nice time there as well. The day after Christmas we had my side of the family to our house because one of my brother's could not make it on Christmas day. My sister-in-law loved RockBand so much that she went out and bought it the following day.

By this point I was rather visited out. I kinda just crashed on Saturday. Sunday brought the Eagles victory and my previous blog From Sunday on I was busy with visiting and preparing for the party that I was throwing on New Year's Eve. I wish that I had taken picks of the food that I had prepared. It was good. I had meatballs and Roast beef. I had lots of hors d'oeuvres. I made pigs in a blanket, spanikopita, brushetta, and the like. There was lots and lots to drink. It was a party, after all.

The following day I had a house full of company again. You see, my brother-in-law's family are visiting from Virginia. They will be leaving for Oregon this summer so we are trying to spend as much time with them as we canThis morning I was in bed until 9:30!! I am so tired. Guess what? We are having company again tonight. **sigh** You see, our house is the only one in the family with room for all 8 grandchildren, and that isn't saying a lot. You may recall that I have mentioned before that I live in a shoebox. Our home is about 1300 sq. feet. The kids all go to the basement. That is where the playroom is.

I love the holidays. I love my family. I love visiting. Its just that I am holidayed out, familied out and visited out. I am kinda bummed that I will have to record Atlantis tonight. I like to watch my favorite shows on the night that they air. Oh, well. I have been told that I am a great hostess. My guests are late (thank God) and I have to go and get ready. Don't get me wrong, I do love them all its just that -Some wise person once said, "All things in moderation." There is much wisdom in that statement. I have had too much of everything including food this past week. I am looking forward to a peaceful tomorrow and Sunday and then it is back to work. Have a great weekend everyone.

I don't think you've been practing what you preach. But it sounds like you've been having a good time. When you do become a diva don't forget the little people.

Too much visiting, but at least you had a happy and safe holiday with your rock band! Have a great 2009!

The entertainment we make for and with each other tends to be the most enjoyable, and the most precious. You have earned more than a little bit of extra crash time. It sounds like you've had a rambunctious social calendar. Enjoy it while it's happening, and set the memories aside to savor at your leisure. Happy 2009!

Happy new year! And stuff....;-)

I guess you keep Christmas going a lot longer than most people. Enjoy Rock Band. I have played that a little with my son. I'm the singer. It's a lot of fun. I wish there were more songs I know.

When I was a child I wanted to have the family to sing Christmas songs but they never went along with it.

I am ready to return to my regular routine as well.

Great blog!

I love slice of life stories. It sounds like you had a warm and rich
Christmas season! As for having to record Atlantis etc. just think how
great it'll be once you can settle down and relax and watch your shows
in peace!

By the way,
HERE is some transportation for your band. The band that
used it doesn't need it anymore.

Hello, world, here's the song that we're singin' C'mon get happy!

Hmm. I suppose you'll pretty soon be wanting us to call you "Miley" Ascaffo??? Oh, please, PAH-LEEZE don't talk your sons into mullets! It would more than certainly be the monkey wrench you DON'T want thrown into your Rockband 2! Your Christmastime sounds like it was a Wonderful-land, as well as a Winter Wonderland! I secretly wish my daughter, Puppet, and I could have been little mice soaking up the Christmas crumbs at your and your family members' festive abodes. Someday, I just know our holiday will be perfect, too. (We struggle each year to stay happily afloat in a quagmire of "pull-'em-down" humbugs. We have high hopes that, in short order, we'll convert every last scrooge in our lives, and it will be finally good. Wait, make that GREAT!) Like you, I SIMPLY LOVE CHRISTMAS!!! (I'm glad you and I have that in common!)-- any holiday, for that matter; Puppet and I even create holidays because we feel there just aren't quite enough. The next one on the Farkle calendar is Fairy Day, which we decided to celebrate on Valentine's Day this year. (The date changes each year according to the available ca$h flow, as we exchange presents on Fairy Day-- just like Christmas, only with glittery homemade wings attached!). In the meanwhile, thanks for having allowed me (and my daughter--I had her read your blog, too! Heck, even our dog, Janey, had a fun listen!) to live a dream Christmas with you and yours-- the accordian music and oh-so-wonderful solos being the exceptionally fine frosting on this yuletime cake! Mind if I wrap us up a couple more slices for the road? The best to you in 2009!

P.S. Such handsome and fine sons I'm sure you must be so proud of! Is Alex younger than Eric? It's kind of hard to tell. What grades are they in, if you don't mind me asking. My daughter, Puppet, just turned 16 in September --She's our (my husband's name is Billy) only child. We're Cobwebbed Parents: Fertility problems at first got in the way, until Puppet hatched when I was already 38 years old-- Thank God she's not yet interested in the drivers license thing-- that guarantees me a smitch more time before my hair has to turn completely gray! All kidding aside, like your sons, she's a great kid, too. Isn't it fun to be able to guiltlessly brag like this?! Tah-tah for now!

Tj- its true. There are a lot of great memories. We have all had a good time. I still have company today- just the guys so far, and I have made it clear that there will be no cooking or anything out of me today- just a nice big smile.

Hi there Mom. The thing is that we all (more or less) have off for the week. So, its been one long party. I have had to sneak down to play rockband- most of the others aren't interested

Buskie Boy- that was so sweet. I think that is the nicest gift that I have received this season. The boys and I can tour in style. I wonder where David Cassidy is?

Hey there my favorite Sparkle! I am so glad that you enjoyed my blog. It has been a great time. Being tired is really a small price to pay. In fact, the bright side is that I have been sleeping later than I have in years. I didn't crawl outta bed today until 10:00. Of course, I haven't been going to bed until 2 or so each evening.

I like to share about my family. They are a part of who I am. My online community is my family as well. I talk about you guys a lot too. Of course, no one here seems to get my interest in having virtual pen pals. They just don't know what they are missing. I have been so by our little community- but I digress. . .

I love the idea of Fairy day. If I may, I might celebrate with you. I could send you and Puppet some virtual gifts.

You don't have to call my Miley. You could call me Madonna, or Tina, or Bette, or- well you get the idea Mullets, I don't think so. Maybe a nice mohawk.

My boys are a treasure. Alex is the older (he is in the white shirt.) He is 12 (7th grade) and will be 13 in May. Eric is 10 (5th grade) and will be 11 in May. Alex was born at 5lbs 6oz. He has always been slight of build. Eric, on the other hand, is a moose. Solid. Thanks for sharing about your family, and I am glad that I got to share a bit more about mine. Have a lovely weekend.

Gabriella, that would be so cool if we could really play together. We have the Xbox live account and play with other people. Its fun. Although, I have a long way to go. I play mostly on easy with the occassional medium thrown in.

Hi there karl. I will be sure to watch the Colts game tonight. That should be a good one. Eagles tomorrow night and I will be all rested up

Thanks for the blog - it reminded me of when I was growing up and all the cousins got together at Christmas. Well I guess it was our parents who did the getting together - but we all had a lot of fun chasing around the house and playing crazy kid games. They didn't have Rock Band then - I remember my brother running around looking like a pirate - and lots of camp building! Those were the days!

Hello Caroline, that sounds like it was fun. Playing pirates and camp building was always fun. My kids are always building forts. Its fun
