44-6 Eagles Final

Sometimes, just sometimes, something will come along and completely blow you away. Today, just such an event happened. As I type away, Dallas's Cowboys are ending their 2009 season, and the Eagles are moving onto the playoffs. I admit it; I do. I lost faith. I sinned. I started off the season with high hopes. You may even recall my previous blog about the Eagles. Everything seemed to go down hill from there. The Eagles have often made it difficult to be a fan. McNabb and the gang often frustrate to the point of hair pulling.

It was a lackluster and disappointing season. Up and down. Up and down. It could be a song.

A devoted fan, I was finally tired of Andy Reid and tired of McNabb. To say that I had little hopes of making the playoffs would have been a HUGE overstatment. So, I am publically admitting my sins, and I am sooooo thankful for the unexpected events that transpired today. Who would have thought that it could have all come together?

My friend, Les_Nessman
Tommy, you were right- they weren't out of it

It was a really exciting game for Eagles fans everywhere. The events that had to transpire to get us here were dicey. Here is what had to happen:

The Eagles (8-6-1) needed to win over Dallas. Tampa Bay had to loose, and either Chicago or Minnesota also had to loose. Tampa Bay and Chicago both lost. Minnesota bested New York (another good game.)

In my defense, I have to say that I cannot be the only one who lost the faith. My faith has been restored and I think they made up for everything with this one. It was as if the team came out today, and wanted us to know that they feel our pain.

Now, the journey begins. Next week, Minnesota. Watch out Vikings- these birds are flying now!

My uncle is a HUGE Eagles fan, and was regaling us with the awesomeness that is the Eagles making it to the Playoffs! Congrats!

I hope the Eagles pound the Vikings. Not that I care one way or another about the Eagles. I'm just a Bears fan.
Posted Dec 28, 2008 5:19 pm PT
Awwww... It makes me feel goot that you were thinking of me. *hugs*

I'm happy for your Eagles. Have you heard anything about my Lions...yeah it's sad.
Posted Dec 28, 2008 7:27 pm PT
I am sorry, Jackie. But, thanks for being happy for us.

I am so happy for the Eagles and YOU! One of the most incredible sports storys of the year. Who was it that arose out of the ashes? Phoenix, Zenith? I don't know my mythology but that was Philadelphia this year. Minnesota is very winnable. They are lucky the Bears stunk worse thean they did.

Yes, Tommy, it was the Phoenix (Eagles.) I am keeping the faith for the upcoming game.

By all that is holy, what a GLORIOUS day. A 38 point drubbing of the Cowboys. What could possibly be better. I think this is great. Nice time to be a Philly sports fan. I think they could easily beat Minnesota. We'll have to see. I think waxing the Cowboys deserves a Congressional Medal for public service.

Damn, Karl. Tell me how you really feel I love it!! Congressional Medal, indeed. I am keeping my fingers crossed and sprinking fairy dust.

Well, OK, I will. I try to be a peaceful man and hold no hatred on my heart, but when it comes to the Yankees and Cowboys, I have work left to do in this area. I get far too much satisfaction out of things like that botched field goal snap against the Seahawks a few years back.

I do hope the Eagles do well. They've been a good team for a long time and deserves a Super Bowl. But, the Giants and Panthers are awfully good clubs.

Happy New Year ascaffo!

Good for the Eagles!

At least they didn't tank like the Buffalo "$3" Bills did.
I live in Brampton, just west of Toronto so we kinda
root for the Bills up here. They played the Dolphins
at the Skydome week 14. (Loss of course)

Do you think they have enough to go far enough?
BTW, I loved the movie "Invincible". Even though they did
take a bit of licence with some of the truth. Very inpirational.
And the real Vince Papale is a real nice guy from what I've read.

It's nice to see a woman into sports. You like hockey, baseball?
How come a New Jersey girl is into the Eagles? You a Philly native?

Anyway, thanks for visiting my blog and nice to make a new friend
here at tvdot!

Well Karl, I do have it in for the Cowboys. It was great to take them down this season. The Eagles are a good team, but they need to be more consistent. I am just keeping my fingers crossed.

Hello there new friend. Happy New Year to you. I know that the Eagles have it, its just a matter of using it. We shall see. This week shouldn't be too difficult, but we have heard that before.

I haven't seen the movie Invincible. Of course, I am familiar with the story. I wanted to see it, but just never got around to it.

I enjoy sports. I really only watch the NFL games. I like to watch all of the games, not just the Eagles. I enjoy hockey too- but I really can't afford to invest any more time into watching regularly. I live in south jersey so we are much much closer to philly than to New York. Hence, my devotion to the teams of Philly. Have a good one.

That is what friends are supposed to do. Happy New Year!
