WHY ABC WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Pushing Daisies rocks.

ABC needs to die.

That is all.

So I've decided to redeclare my undying love for cheesy, sappy Lifetime movies. I find that I really quite enjoy these kind of movies whenever I'm feeling down, bored, or otherwise under-the-weather. And sometimes I enjoy them for the simple reason that they happen to be one of my many guilty pleasures. I freely admit that and I am NOT ashamed. So when the mood strikes, I grab a box of Kleenex, curl up in a blanket, and sit down to watch the gloriously sappy movies that one can find on the Lifetime Channel. And I have a good cry.

Now, I can honestly tell you that I am indeed a chick, and I do enjoy chick flicks. But trust me when I tell you that there are few movies in the world that can really make me cry. Most of those select few happen to be found on the Lifetime Channel. It is a Lifetime movie alone that seems to have the infallible power to make me bawl like a baby. I don't know what it is, maybe they sold their soul to the devil for the secrets to my heart, but only a Lifetime movie seems to have the ability to make me laugh, cry, and inspire me all within the context of a two hour flick.

It was only recently that I rediscovered this amazing power during Lifetime's Christmas in July celebration. Some of the movies featured that I watched included The Christmas Shoes, Saving Sarah Cain, and In America. I highly recommend all three, especially In America.

The Christmas Shoes is based off the famously heart-wrenching song of the same name. It is about a workaholic father who learns the true meaning of love and life after crossing paths with a young boy desparately trying to buy a pair of red shoes for his mother before she dies. It is incredibly sappy but you can't help but be moved by the story and the performances, particularly that of the young boy.

Saving Sarah Cain tells the story of a self-involved big-city columnist who becomes the legal guardian of her five Amish nieces and nephews after her sister dies. As her love for them grows, she soon realizes that her motivations for bringing them to the city were wrong and that as a result of her selfishness, the children have been forced to compromise who they are. In order to find redemption, she realizes that she must make a choice that will test just how much she has grown to love them.

In America is the story of an immigrant Irish family who move to New York City in order to start a new life after the death of their youngest child, and so the father can pursue an acting career. The movie's most heart-wrenching theme is the family's struggle for survival through tough times and loss with the help of some new friends. It is truly an amazing story with brilliant performances by all, including the two young children.

There you have it. I just needed to share by undying love and devotion to cheesy, sappy Lifetime movies. With tears shed and a soul filled anew with inspiration, I'm out.
