It's my tv.com anniversary today. It's hard to believe I've been at this site for 4 years already. It really doesn't seem that long. I was just thinking that this last year has gone by so fast. It seems like it was just last year's anniversary a couple of months ago. I've met so many wonderful people here and made so many friends. I'm glad I'm a part of this site.
Hubby's having surgery on his left foot again on July 13. While the first surgery fixed some things, it didn't fix everything and it created additional problems. He's still in constant pain and can't stay on his feet for any length of time. I guess it's easy for these things to go wrong because he's found that a lot of people have had the same issues after foot surgery that he's having. I really hope this second surgery fixes everything. You just can't do anything when your foot hurts all the time. When you're feet hurt, it's the only thing you can think about.
Work is going well, but I'm so busy there. I'm not complaining because it's better than being bored with nothing to do, but it gets so crazy sometimes. I prefer it to be steady rather than manic. I'm on call this week, but haven't been paged (touch wood). I don't really feel like going out to the plant after hours right now.
I haven't been watching a lot of television lately since just about everything is on hiatus. Torchwood is going to begin airing here on July 20 and I'm looking forward to that.
BBC America also aired the Doctor Who Christmas special on June 27. They'll be airing the rest of the specials instead of SyFy as well. I'm glad. They treat the show a lot better than SyFy did. SyFy cut scenes from every episode to make room for ads. The only time BBCA does that is when they re-air episodes that last an hour or more. They never cut it on the first airing, so we always have at least one chance to see the entire episode.
I'm renting Invasion from Netflix. I didn't see it when it aired and I'm sorry I didn't. It's an excellent show. It's too bad they cancelled it. It turns out that Shaun Cassidy is pretty good at creating stories. At any rate, I have 7 episodes left and I'm looking forward to them. I'm pretty sure it ends with a massive cliff hanger, though.
I've gotten hooked on another show by renting it from Netflix as well. It's called Dexter. Unfortunately, I don't have Showtime so I can't watch this when it airs. The season 3 DVD is going to be released next month, but I won't be able to watch season 4 in September.
It's been dreadfully hot here the last month and we've had only 1 day with any rain. It was only enough rain to wet the surface of the ground as well. The ground is so dry and we can't really water because it just evaporates. The city has even asked people not to water their yards on even number days. The temperature has reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius), but it feels like 110 degrees (43 degrees) with the heat index. I'm sure it's going to get worse because August is the hottest month of the year and it's been like this for the entire month of June. The electric bill is going to be huge. There's just no way to tolerate it without air conditioning. I sure hope we don't get another hurricane. The water is so warm, the thing would become massive fairly quickly.
That's it for me. I hope everyone is having a happy and safe 4th of July.

Hey Stu. Thanks so much about hubby. I sure hope you're right about the heat wave. It would be nice to get some relief. I'm glad it's passed for you. I know. It's hard to believe it's been 4 years already!

I cannot wait for Torchwood. I get giddy every time I even think of it.
I hope Hubby's surgery goes well and hopefully this will be the last one.

I've been here for 4 years, too. Time really flies, doesn't it? Happy anniversary, AngelandSpike!

Happy 4th on TV.com and happy 4th of July!
Sorry to hear about your hubby's foot. Hope the surgery goes well and that everything will be fixed this time. Dexter got even better during the 2nd season, IMO. I thought it was already hot and humid here with 32-34C. Your place sure could use a bit of rain. See you around, Al.

Happy Anniversary!!!
I am sorry that the foot thing is such a never-ending story. I'll keep my fingers crossed for this surgery. Humidity makes the heat a lot harder to bear, doesn't it? It's usually not very humid over here, so air conditioning is practically non existent. I sure hoped I had one lately. Enjoy Dexter, I really love that show. Go Torchweek.

I'm a little surprised BBC America's airing the next DW special on a Sunday night. I can't remember a first airing not being on a Saturday,

Thanks Shadow. Time does fly.
Thanks Macky. I agree about Dexter. If you have any extra rain, please send it.
Thank you, mafalada. Yes, humidity makes the heat a lot worse. I'm loving Dexter. I didn't think I would, but I do.
Thanks D. I may end up changing my cable plan so I get Showtime and can watch Dexter when they air it. We found a way to make the bill less every month and add the channels, so we might as well do it.
That is odd, Jekyll. I suppose they think more families will watch it on Sunday than on Saturday.

Congratulations Al, not just for you - but for all the people you've been so great to.
Really sorry about the hubster needing more surgery. You're right about our feet, people don't realize how important they are until something goes wrong (fingers crossed). Thanks f/t "heads up", I didn't even know we got BBC West, now I've got to find out which channel.
Posted Jul 5, 2009 6:39 am PT
Thanks DB and you're welcome. BBCA is not quite like the BBC, but it's better than nothing. It's channel 226 with our service, but it might be different in your area. They're going to add an HD channel soon as well. I love your avatar. It's just so cute!

Happy anniversary, Angelandspike!....fours years around here have certainly seen ups and downs, eh? Hope your husband's surgery goes well and he doesn't have any more after this. Heat wave, huh?....I'll swap you the constant weather we've had in Eastern Canada over the last month or so....
...have a great week and stay cool!

Happy Anniversary! I'm having a hard time rapping my head around being with the site 4 years. Seems just like last month. I hope Hubbys surgery goes smoothly and this is the last one he needs. I feel you on the weather front. The only difference is that it rains here every day for about 15 minutes. Just enough to make the air thick and muggy. I love living in Florida.
I can't wait for Torchwood to start. Have a great rest of the weekend.

I completely forgot about TV.com anniversaries. I guess my 4-year anniversary came up a few weeks ago. I haven't spent nearly as much time on the site this year as I have in the past, for various reasons.
I thought the last 11 or 12 episodes of "Invasion" were very good, once ABC let Shaun Cassidy tell the stories he wanted to tell instead of trying to force him to make a "Lost" clone. The problem is that the slow pace in the first 8 or 9 episodes ended up losing too many viewers and they never came back. I missed the last 2 or 3 episodes. I bought the DVD set when it first came out but I haven't actually watched a single episode from the DVD yet after almost 3 years. Happy Anniversary anyway. Oh, I saw a Mark Dacascos movie on TV today, "I Am Omega", on the Sci Fi Channel (soon to be the Syfy Channel). It was better than the usual Sci Fi Channel movie although it was a complete ripoff of "I Am Legend" and "The Omega Man".

Thanks Mari. Yes, we sure have seen a lot of ups and downs in the 4 years we've been here, but I've come to view that as just being part of the experience. Thanks about hubby. I hope the same. Ok. Well, you can send us a little rain and we'll send you a little heat.
Thank you Scott. I know what you mean. It's hard to believe that much time has passed. Oh, Florida has about the same weather as the Texas Gulf Coast, so I know what you mean. It's very humid here. It's like a humid desert right now. You have a great rest of the week as well.
I can see that about the slow start to Invasion, Home. I suppose that just didn't bother me for a couple of reasons. One, I'd been warned that it was a slow starter. Two, I enjoyed the character development and the mystery. Thanks about the anniversary. I saw that I Am Omega was on, but I didn't watch since it was about half way through. Maybe they'll air it again so I can see it. I'm curious about it. I haven't seen I Am Legend, but I love The Omega Man. It's one of the creepiest films ever.

Well done on surviving four years!
Invasion was a great show once I got into it and you really do get involved in the characters after a while. The ending was pretty great if I remember correctly which you can look forward to.

Thanks, Dan. I'm glad the ending of Invasion is good. That's definitely something to look forward to.

Hmm, wow. I could be wrong, but I think the site's actually been TV.com now longer than it was ever TV Tome. That's really something. I haven't watched any of the shows you mentioned, though I may look into them sometime. Hope things go well with that surgery. I've had some issues with my feet myself, though nothing that bad.
It's been unseasonably mild where I am, though it's supposed to warm up later this week.

I started watching the Mark Dacascos movie when it was about halfway through too. That doesn't really bother me too much. I've seen half of so many movies. Sometimes I'll see the first part on TV, sometimes the middle part, and other times the last part. And with some movies, I'll actually end up watching the whole thing in parts. Some of the movie channels show the same movies over and over each month so this method can work (but not if you like watching movies from start to finish). Blame it on my multitasking mindset and inability to sit through too many 2-hr. movies these days.

Hey Agent. Wow, I didn't even think about the site being tv.com longer than it was tvtome. You can rent all the shows I mentioned, so that's a good way to see if you like them or not. Thanks about hubby's surgery. I wish it were unseasonably mild here. I'd love that.
Mostly, I like watching films from start to finish, Home, but I have watched them pieces at a time. It just depends on my mood I guess.

Four years! Congrats. I only just crossed the six month mark. Where do you live that's so hot!? Good luck to your husband on that foot surgery. People often don't realize how important their feet are until something goes wrong...

Thanks m00n. I live near the Texas Gulf Coast, about 8 miles inland. Thanks about hubby's foot surgery. I agree about feet. I think we take them for granted sometimes.
Thanks torlight.

Happy anniversary!
You're just over a week older here than I am!
Dexter is a fantastic show, I tell people how they have to watch this show about a sociopathic serial killer...and that it's a comedy! Most of them can't get their heads around that.
Good luck to hubby on the surgery.

Thanks Stiggy. My brother told me about Dexter and I thought he was crazy. LOL Now, I see what he meant. Thank you about hubby's surgery as well.

Happy Anniversary! Glad you're liking Invasion! I too loved it & wished they hadn't cancelled it. Have you watched any of Castle? Loving following Nathan/Richard Castle on twitter - very funny show. Hope your hubby's surgery goes well and hoping that this fixes the problems with pain
Talk to you soon, mini

Thanks Mini. Sorry it took me so long to respond. I upgraded Firefox and now I can't see when there are new comments to my blogs without actually looking at the comments.
I've finished watching Invasion. I mentioned that in the blog that disappeared. Anyway, I loved it and I'm sorry it got cancelled. I've watched some episodes of Castle, but I just didn't get into it. Thanks about hubby. The surgery went well and he's doing much better now (touch wood).
