I know it's been awhile since I posted a latest blog entry...so sorry! I've been busier than usual, picking up more hours, extra shifts, etc. I do have good news to report: I got a raise at work!!
I was not expecting to get one mainly because I was hired at above my pay grade, but it was a nice surprise anyway. ![]()
I do referrals at work, basically what that mean is getting somebody to buy something either from the catalogue or online, and I ring them up under my #'s so that I can get credit for the sale. I don't get commission (thank god), because I'm so bad at stuff like that.
I'm currently reading "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies," in the spare time that I occasionally have, and would like to continue to read the next book the author came out with, I think it's called "Sense and Sensiblity and Sea Monsters."
Should be interesting!
Today marks my 3 month anniversary at my new job.
Yeah, I'm really excited, and I hope to stay with the company for a long time.
Work has been going really well, have been somewhat steady on the hours. September is a slow month for retail, so it's to be expected. Hopefully once our holidays pick up, the hours do as well.
This will be probably one of my shortest blogs ever. lol
I went to dinner at a Chinese restaurant tonight with my family, and I'll leave you with my fortune cookie, "Do not listen to vain words from empty minds."
Oh, and of course, yummy shows like Bones & Fringe premiered tonight! And can't wait for Criminal Minds next Wed. night, along with House, Lie to Me, Castle, Dollhouse, Dexter, and Desperate Housewives to return!! ![]()
My car is OLD. 14 years old, so not too bad, but still, it was not born in the 2000s, that's for sure.
As I was driving home from work, (and thankfully I wasn't in the center lane), my car decided to sort of plug along and it gave it's last "oomph" of power and died on me. I also saw smoke arising from the hood....and here I'm thinking, "Get out of the car before it blows up with you in it!!"
I stand on the grassy median, and I was close to a stoplight, and I was in the "left hand turning lane," but there was enuff room for others to drive around me, but I was scared somebody was going to rear-end me, and I really did not need to add to my troubles.
I called Triple A (a roadside assistance service), and they called a police officer for me, who thankfully parked right behind me w/ flashing lights so as to deter cars from hitting me.
Yay! I waited about twenty minutes for a tow guy to come, and my parents came to make sure I was alright.
I was fine, I was freaked out, and worried, because I need my car to get around, I have a job, and I can't really depend on others to take me places. Thankfully the Triple A guy filled my tank w/ water, and my dad figured out that I had a leak in my hose, so the guy was kind enuff to tow me to an Auto Zone, wait for my dad to buy the needed part, then tow me back to my house.
He didn't have to do that, but I AM SO THANKFUL THAT HE DID!!!
Customer service can go so far if people are just nice to each other. My dad tipped him handsomely for his trouble, he had to charge us for driving 3 miles extra of what's already covered under my membership plan, but he was so nice and everything. We even gave him 4 water bottles from here because we took his available water.
