Vin Diesel has a tendency to create action movies. Look at the whole Chronicles of Riddick trilogy. And, as usual, the critics hold something against them and give 'em a lowrating. I'm afraid I must disagree with the critics on this one....

Vin Diesel has a tendency to create action movies. Look at the whole Chronicles of Riddick trilogy. And, as usual, the critics hold something against them and give 'em a lowrating. I'm afraid I must disagree with the critics on this one. Babylon A.D. exhibits a decent storyline with few flaws and a whole lot of action. The story takes place in Asia and Europe, and later moves to the U.S. For the most part, it's a struggle to reach New York, while surviving the terrors of a futuristic world in which society has collapsed. Rather then becoming a more sophisticated and peaceful place, the Earth is a corrupt place full of people fighting to survive and find a better life; I believe it's an extremely plausible situation. A mercenary named Toorop (Vin Diesel) is tormented by inner demons, but follows a strict code of honor, placing great value on his word. When hired by a corrupt, rich guy who pulls the strings of European and Asian governments, Toorop finds himself transporting a strange girl and her friend/adopted parent to New York, and facing the choice to walk away and save himself, or try to help someone. I'll admit, the movie could have been better. It was a bit slow to start, and the fact that Toorop would speak in English while others spoke Russian disappointed me a bit, but those were pretty minor things. The worst part of the movie was probably the end. I felt as though the movie should've been longer than an hour and 25-ish minutes. The end itself could've been a bit more drawn out than it was... a bit of a better explanation for those who can't interpret things so well. Other than that and a few funky lines, I found the movie to be extremely good. There were some truly amazing special effects, my favorites being a missle locked on Vin Diesel's transport breezing past his wards' faces, flames enveloping Vin Diesel, and a snowmobile chase. The filming also captured quite a few beautiful places while remaining in the storyline and staying realistic. Overall, I felt it was a good movie. Sadly, it was one of those movies I wish I'd been helping out with, so that I could've fixed a couple problems that bugged me and absolutely wrecked a lot of people's opinions of the movie. But I still loved it, and I hope that Vin Diesel will continue to try to pump out these action movies.

Even if no one else appreciates them, I do.
