Yeah, it's been a while since I've blogged...actually, I've been pretty much under the radar on this site for a while now. More busy playing games rather than talking about them, and of course, the occasional pain in my ass which everyone likes to refer to as "work", or "job", or "career"...but some things are just unavoidable.
But I mut say, it feels pretty damn good to be a gamer right about now.
Although I've been blowing my money on a lot of older collectible games (I'm talking like 3DO and Jaguar, why? I don't know, it seemed like a good idea at the time
) I've also been busy keeping up with this wonderful current generation and wave after wave of killer titles.
Super Mario Galaxy and No More Heroes for the Wii. One's a journey thru space (I don't feel the need to elaborate on, because you already know what Mario does when he's in space...yes, he turns into a honeybee) and one's a twisted blood bath adventure with intuitive controlls (I know right? who would have thought a Wii game would have intuitive controlls) plus a nice, rythmic feel, which is really quite refreshing. Pretty good, pretty good.
Burnout Paradise for the 360 (so that I could listen to my downloaded tracks from the 360 dashboard while playing) is basically high octane eye-candy with unrelenting action..which is...just...f*cking awesome. Excuse me. Every great aspect of any previous Burnout game with an open-world environment added and some of the most gorgeous graphics I've ever seen in a game. That's pretty much how it is. How a game can look this good and run so smooth with virtually zero load times is beyond me, and in my opinion, sets the standards of how a nex-gen game should play. Also, a nice feature which probably goes unnoticed is that if you put the controller down in the middle of the game, and don't touch it for a while, the game goes into a sort of tour around the city...this is nice for onwers of plasma or lcd tvs like myself, because the constant screen activity won't allow for burn-ins of a still picture. I think it's a really cool "feature" that I can use without having to pause the game or turn off my tv when I know I'd be away for a few minutes, pissing or drinking, or both. Still wish there was some blood and gore involved tho
yeah right, like that will ever happen.
And of course, Devil May Cry 4 for the PS3. I'm really diggin the Collector's Edition this time, as I haven't been really impressed with some the the "CE"s lately, like CoD4 for example (yuck!), but this one got it right. The metal tin is beautiful, the bonus content is abundant, and as an added incentive, the dude at GameStop who sold me the game hooked it up with the DMC4 artbook which wasn't included with this edition...a $10 ebay value...free. I've always loved the series, with the exception of the 2nd game, and this pretty much made up for that. At first, I was a little hesitant about adjusting to the new kid, Nero, as the main character, but after getting acquainted with his combos and special moves, I was wondering where the f*ck he'd been hiding this whole time. I was somewhat upset when I had to switch to using Dante halfway thru the game, but it's all good, Dante's got a pretty decent aresnal as well. Sorry for the spoiler, but yeah, Dante's a playable character as well lmao. Anyway, I love it.
Also currently playing Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne for the PS2. It's a dark, moody RPG, and it sort of reminds me of Pokemon, except that you collect demons, which can evolve over time, or can be fused together to create new demons. And it's not geared towards children. Oh, and it also features Dante from some game I was just talking about as a playable character (eventually)...and it also kicks a lot of ass.
As great as these titles are though, they were just a means of killing time until THE game arrived...Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Yeah, I admit, I stood in line with other dorks to get the game at midnight on Saturday/Sunday, but I didn't care...I knew I had to be one of the first to own, after waiting such a long time from the previous installment, and the hype that goes with it. Needless to say, I'm going to be playing this game alot now. Just the new story mode, "Space Emissary", I think that's what it's called...is unbelievable. I'm betting there were a huge amount of fanboys wetting their pants yesterday, as I'm sure many new fanboys will be wetting their pants today and the rest of this week. I'm not going to give anything away, but all I can say what really made me appreciate the deepness of the new story mode, was the inclusion of cinema and 3d graphics related to Mother 3, the sequel to my favorite game ever created (Earthbound), which I haven't had the chance to play because I can't read Japanese...but it's there, everything's there in this game. Total nastalgia, and then some. Thank you Nintendo for staying on top of your sh*t, and thank you for releasing games on Sundays, and also, thank you for allowing me to use the GameCube controller for this game. I wish I wasn't at work right now, because I know I'm missing out, but, it'll be around for a while, so no big deal. Very satisfied with game, as expected.
In other news, I finally modded my Wii with a black case to match my other consoles. Haven't gotten around to the wiimotes yet, maybe today, maybe not. I'll be sure to post pics tho. I want to show you guys my new condo that I bought 6 months ago anyway, since I'm late on doing that.
Anyway, hope you all are enjoying these times as much as I am.

the 360 was much more simple.
i want to get a black dreamcast case next, but i can't find any.
smash is just one of those games that you really have to get into i guess. but it has essentially everything nintendo ever created (characters, themes, games) and now sega and konami, all wrapped up in one single fighting game. it's an explosion of history that you can play with, i guess you could say, on some wierd level...
My roomie had a black Dreamcast once, but it came that way as part of a "sports package" if I recall correctly.
It is a lamentable fact that I will have to wait many a week until Smash Bros finally arrives in the UK. Have fun playing in the mean time!

And a question, provided you're allowed to answer it; Where do you get the colored new skins for your systems!? I'm completely uneducated when it comes to alterations and mods, so appologies if the question sounds silly, LOL.
