Hello there,
To all hungry cougars out there hunting for rockin' young flesh, please take note that I didn't had the chance to get my hand on GH3... But whatever. I tried it, it's really cool (the setlist: finger lickin' good). I've tried it on PS2 and Xbox360, prefered the Xbox version (the PS2 version is still nice, but the crowdare just horendous. Plus, I'm starting to like the Xplorer guitar). On the Wii, maybe it was just the TV that needed some calibrate-luvin', but I got kicked out on... Slow Ride. Twice. Sober. It's just that the stupid HOPOs didn't wanted to work.
Also, I don't know why, but it seems that one's love affair whit Guitar Hero stops with the first one you master. Maybe it's not just as rewarding to get a 5 star rating on a song that took you only one try to beat.
Ah well, havingovercome my Guitar Hero sectarism, I felt the need tocatch up on all the games thatI've missed. In the past few weeks, I've blew the dust over some of my old-school games like Double Dragon 2, Ninja Gaiden and Contra (Contra 4 is coming out on the DS, take that third dimention !). I've also tried some of the Trillions AAA that came out recently. So here's my two-cents about some of them.
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles: A sympathic gun-game. However, I felt that the crosshair suffered sometimes of "hiccups", and that a good ol' NES Zapper would have done a better job. Must be more fun when played in co-op. I thougth that the settings were a nice bag of fan service, but the RE affictionnados that I've played with just felt that the unnacurate quotes of the games were... plain wrong.
Assassin's creed: Everyone who've played more than 1 hour of that game says it's great. However, I've only had the chance to play for 15 minutes or so, after busting my spherical-sacks-of-future-childrens on the neverending, disturbing tutorial. Nonetheless, I only wanted to try the controls. Those are indeed uncommon, but they rapidly become intuitive. Good job. Also, the amount of detail in the environnement is breathtaking. I only wished to have been able to play in a more advanced game, because the level design of the first level is kinda dull, and there's no way you can escape those super-agile-god-like-monkeys of royal guards, damn !
Super Mario Galaxy: Frikin'. Awesome. Totally blew my mind. I do not remember the last time I just felt happy by simply run and jump mindlessly. Actually yes, it was like the first time I played Mario 64. But Galaxy takes the best of SM 64 and merge it with a dose of SMB 3 (sweet !). The camera are now scripted, so no more pauses to ajust P.O.V. The levels ( at leat the few I've seen) are incredibly well built and use the gravity in a pletora of creative, mind-confusing-but-coolpuzzles.
So, happy turkey-eating to all you folks down the border.
Hey there, it's been a while ! So... Howzit goin'....
Bah who are we kidding, here you go ! This is some exclusives to Gamespot !
