I have to admit to being a little bit disappointed still in the route that Studio 60 is taking.  The storyline is still progressing more slowly than I would have hoped.  I am still going to keep watching because I know the team of Schlamme and Sorkin won't keep us disappointed.

That said, there were many good points for me last night.  The Tom/Lucy storyline was cute and refreshing....even if you could see from a mile away that Matt's advice to Tom to lie to Lucy was going to go astray.  I thought the girl playing Tom's admirer was very funny in her tequila-stricken state.

Also, I was extremely glad to see more of Timothy Busfield's Cal.  He is so inherently funny; just by being on the screen, he amuses me.  I also enjoyed Harriet calling Matt on his actions, or lack thereof in the past, and how nothing ever changes between them.  Good for her; a change in their dynamics might just be what the show needs to be a tad more exciting in coming weeks.  Darius and Simon's interactions were also Sorkin-worthy as Simon's punishing of Darius continues.  I hope Darius continues to stand up for himself, and stand behind what he sees as comedy, even if that might not coincide with Simon's opinions.

Lastly, Danny and Jordan....I'm glad to see Jordan hesitating a little when Danny said he was going to stop wooing her....her response of "well" makes us she that perhaps she has feelings for Danny too.  Is she just afraid of owning up to them (like maybe he'll leave her just when she starts to depend on him), or is she worried that his feelings are just protective and pitiful, as she mentioned?  Either way, I was glad to see Danny back to being "the man."  That whole stalker thing last week freaked me out a bit, but he seems to be coming to his senses.  And him not pursuing her might be just what it takes for her to pursue him.

So, all in all, it was a decent episode. I think Sorkin is setting us up with great things to come shortly!

I just finished Season 3 of the West Wing on DVD.  I found this season finale to be much more anti-climatic than the previous two.  While it sucked for CJ that her secret service agent was shot down in a grocery mart, I found myself not really caring that much at all.  I mean, why did he walk around the shop like he owned the place instead of scoping out the situation to make sure that the guy he'd already tied up was alone.  It doesn't seem to me like he followed protocol...not that i know what secret service protocol calls for.  Maybe like his little brother said early in the episode, Mark Harmon's character was slow-witted.

I did enjoy the banter between Amy Gardner (played by Mary Louise Parker) and Josh Lyman (Bradley Whitford's character) in the final episodes.  I applaud West Wing for not making Josh afraid to do what he had to do based on the fear of an angry girlfriend's wrath.  And I like that while she's pissed and is obviously going to yell, she recognizes that it's part of the game of politics (at least it seemed so as the episode ended).

I also loved the line where Bartlett tells the other presidential candidate, Richie, that if he was wondering when Bartlett decided he was going to kick his ass, it was when he said, "Oh boy, crime" or something to that effect.

I wish we'd seen more of Ainsley Hayes in this season; she and Sam Seaborn have great chemistry.  I'm not saying that they should get together, but just have more seasons.  I loved Ainsley standing up for herself, and saying that she wasn't demeaned by the statement that a dog would break his chain for her.  She likes being complimented; it makes her feel included and good.  I love the West Wing's female characters ... Donna, Amy Gardner, and Ainsley are all fantastic.  CJ Cregg is a bit to wishy washy but does of course have shining moments.  The chemistry on this show is outstanding: Toby, Josh, Leo and Charlie especially bring great comedy to the show as well.

Well, the only TV related thing I got for Christmas (besides a new TV with a DVD/VCR combo in it) was Dawson's Creek Season 1 -- which I of course then sat down and watched over the course of the Christmas weekend.  It had been such a long time since I'd seen these episodes; I went through a phase where I caught the TBS reruns alot, but I guess I never saw these episodes after their original viewing on the WB.

All that teenage angst! Katie Holmes really is the queen of playing an uncomfortable teenage girl.  I still assert that she and Joshua Jackson always had way more chemistry than she and James VanDerBeek.  Everything between Joey and Dawson seems so contrived to me.  And I remembered how I thought Michelle Williams was not such a great actress back in the beginning; she has certainly improved, as I thought she was awesome in Brokeback Mountain and the later seasons of Dawson's Creek.

I love the Pageant episode, in which Joey and Pacey both compete for the title of Miss Windjammer.  Pacey's Braveheart monologue is hilarious; he has a seriously good brogue.  I hate how Jen throws herself at Dawson when she finally feels like she's losing him; it's such typical girl behavior.

Most moving part of season one: Joey going to visit her father.
