Big Final Boss
- can take hundreds of bullets to the face
- Must be 10 feet or taller
- Has 10,000 lbs of weapondry on them

Could be a final boss in a videogame
In shooting games when you play a character, the endings overall are the same. In the first shooting games, the game ended fighting a big boss and a congratulations at the end. This was the case for all of the id Software shooters like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Quake, and Quake 2. The final villian was either a cyborg demon or a Robo Hitler Even the remade game Return to Castle Wolfenstein you face off against a 10th century German knight that can take a thousand bullets before dropping. When Half-Life came around there has been less shoot tons of bad guys and fight a final boss at the end. The only games that follow the old school Doom format is Painkiller and the Serious Sam series.
You create a large explosion
-Your fighting hordes of aliens, monsters, or a army comparable to your size
-Explosion usually nuke or fusion
In FPS that try to have some story, the ending will probably consist of blowing up the whole island, building complex, or exterminating some alien race. In Half Life 2 Gordon Freeman blow up a reactor core, in Far Cry the blow up the island by overloading the volcano thus causing it to erupt. In F.E.A.R. the point man overload the reactor core which blows up in the ending cinamatic. Halo the whole ring planet blows up by Master Chief overloading the Pillar of Autumn reactor core. In Gears of War Marcus detonates the Lightmass bomb wiping all of the Kyrll, in Gears of War 2, Marcus uses the hammer of dawn to blow up a lambent brumak flooding Jacinto, and in Command and Conquer Renegade commando Havoc blows up the Temple of Nod using the nuke that was inside it.

Another typical ending
- You must prevent the explosion
- You are special forces
- You are in the military and nukes aren't uses willy nilly in combat
- Enemy is rouge nation or a terrorist group with "thousands" of people

This is the opposite of what happens, and too bad their is no cinematic if you don't prevent it.
This game ending is very common in tactical shooting games like Rainbow Six where all you do is prevent nukes from being going off and typing in the abort codes. In Soldier of Fortune 1 the game revolved around a rouge terrorist group in Germany stealing 4 nukes and your job to retrieve them. Also in Call of Duty 4 Soap McTavish types in the launch codes and mass destruction is prevented.
Cliffhanger ending
- A twist of there is more enemies to kill
- See a lone enemy fly off in the sunset or leaves in some transportation device

Why couldn't they put 15 different enemies and a dozen more guns in the first game?
Both Gears of War games, and Halo 2. There is probably more games that end on cliffhangars, but at the moment this is what I know.
