Sony released a statement commenting on the PS3 (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/05/24/news_6126423.html). I do not want to sound like I am bashing Sony but did'nt we here this story with the PS2, or something to that effect. Mr. Kutaragi mentioned that the PS1 and PS2 was just leading up to the capabilities to the PS3. Why can't you just admit you made a mistake with the PS2. Yes the console was succesful, but it did not live up to it's promise of "home entertainment". I am pretty sure I heard stories of them commenting on how the PS2 was going to be able to do all this "entertainment" business. The hard drive was suppose to expose us to the "entertainment" capabilities that Ken Kutaragi is talking about but if you are like me and rushed to get the hard drive with no interest of Final Fantasy, you lost out big time. It was a $100 wasted, think about it, that is two games, maybe more if you buy them used or on sale.
Sony, just admit that a mistake was made when it came to the PS2 and it's capabilities.
