Hello. My name's Josh and I was born 1986. My first console was a white clunky Game Boy that my father brought me as a present from the US in 1991, I believe it was. And that was it, without knowing my dad had just predestined the use of my pocket money for, uhmm, like the rest of my life probably?
I owned about every major console released in the 90s (exception: N64). But when the Dreamcast, my all-time favorite system next to the Saturn, collapsed in early 2001 I took a long hiatus from gaming. I didn't even care for the PS2, GameCube or Xbox.
Quite coincidentally I happened to get a Nintendo Wii in late 2007. A female friend of my mom was like: "Hey, you wanna accompany me go shopping?" and I said: "Yes, sure". So last thing I remember is that she asks the guy at GameStop whether they accept card payment and then goes: "Pick a game, too!".
It must have looked like I was her toyboy or something.
I'm totally into Japanese gaming franchises like Resident Evil (4 is one of my all-time favs), Final Fantasy, Parasite Eve, Street Fighter, Shenmue etc. Basically anything Capcom, SEGA or Square Enix sounds like a good deal to me.
But you know what, "Leisure Suit Larry 7: Love for Sail!" (PC) is such an amazing game, too. In fact I think it significantly defined my sense of humour.
Now I just recently expanded my retro collection by purchasing a brand new limited edition Skeleton Saturn and R7 Dreamcast. Time for Guardian Heroes and Shenmue I + II !
Oh well, is there anything besides gaming? Yes, I play guitar in a Poprock band and write songs. I am infamous for sleeping a lot, too.
