That sucks man. I'm going this Friday, and if I get home at 2 am and have to call in sick for work the next day, so be it. Nothing's gonna keep me away from Maiden!

Hey, don't sweat it; you didn't miss anything. They ^&*%ing sucked. Just so you can trust my credibility, I'm letting you know that I'm a huge longtime Maiden fan, own every album. And I can still say without a doubt, that they were terrible live, THE worst concert I've ever been to.

1) Sound technician was a total dumbass. Far too much bass, too little treble. It sounded like pure, unfiltered noise. You couldn't even hear the goddamn guitar solos, because of static and the bass overload. The drumming? Forget about it! Nicko was the one who really made the new album shine, and you could barely hear him (or even see him for that matter).
2) Bruce sounded like a teenage adolescent going through puberty. His singing was whiny and weak. He seemed to be putting no effort in... he ought to be ashamed of himself.
3) The stage show was nearly nonexistent. They had lots of flashing lights, but they were incredibly bright, and were always shining in everyone's eyes. I could have gone blind. But other than that, there wasn't anything going on. They didn't even bring out the giant Eddie during the song Iron Maiden! Disgraceful! Plus the band members were so sedated. I know they're in their 50s, but come on, at least try to look like you're having a good time!
4) They played the entire album beginning to end. Sound like a good idea on paper, but it got very old. Plus the songs sounded exactly the same as they did on the album, except much worse. I could have just stayed home and listened to A Matter of Life and Death again, without having to spend a wad of my hard earned cash on tickets, and I would have had a much better time.
5) There were a few old songs, but even that was a disappointment. After the new album was done, they played 5 freakin' songs! Fear of the Dark, Iron Maiden, 2 Minutes to Midnight, The Evil That Men Do, and Hallowed Be Thy Name. But those sounded just as bad thanks to the jerkoff who didn't know how to run to sound system, and the uninspired "effort" the band put in. They left out so many milestones too! Number of the Beast? Nope. The Trooper? Sorry.

And I wasn't the only one who thought this. Every so often, I would look into the aisles, and I would see droves of people walking out, 5, maybe even 10 people at a time! It was bloody awful. At least I got great seats, but it didn't really matter, because I couldn't enjoy them. Bottom line: if you want to see Maiden live, find 15 bucks, and go buy a DVD. Be glad you didn't sit through the hour-and-a-half of crap I paid for.
