Iron Man was a great experience. It had everything - a good story, great humour, some really awesome effects and breathtaking action scenes.
The story is about a guy named Tony Stark who runs the stark industries along with with Obadiah Stane(his business partner). During a business visit to Afghanistan to demonstrate Stark Industries latest weapon the "Jericho Missile" cluster bomb, Stark is attacked and kidnapped by the terrorist group Ten Rings. Stark along with a fellow captive, Dr. Yinsen, are made to make the deadly cluster bomb for the Ten Rings, but secretly create a powerful armor fueled by a miniature 'arc reactor'(A small version of a power source previously invented by Stark). This arc reactor helps prevent the sharpnel to reach Stark's heart to kill him. Dr. Yinsen dies soon after the terrorist group discover their motives. Tony Stark however wears that armor, defeats many terrorists and destroys most of their weapons. The suit tho isn't that efficient and breaks down in the desert, where Stark is soon picked up by the Air Force and returns to US. He then immediately calls up a press conference in which he declares he won't be manufacturing weapons. His business partner tells him that this descision is blocked by the board.
Working secretly in his house in Malibu(California), Stark redesigns the power suit, refining it in size and improving its flight to make it more efficient. He even designs a more powerful mini arc reactor to power both the suit and his life support. Soon Stark is shown some photos of the terrorist groups having all the weapons including the Jericho missile built by his industry. He soon discovers that Stane his supplying the weaponry to both the US Army and the terrorist groups. Knowing this, Stark flies to Afghanistan in his new and improved suit where he yet again kills many people of the Ten Rings. While destroying their weapons, he is spotter by the US Air Force and his friend, Lieutenant Colonel James Rhodes. A pair of F-22's are sent after him, one of which gets damaged during this chase. Stark manages to save the pilot and James Rhodes declares this incident as a training accident after learning of Stark's identity.
Determined to make up for his mistakes, Stark sends his assistant Pepper Potts to find the shipping records of the Stark industries. She discovers that Stane was the one who hired the Ten Rings to kill Stark. She also discovers that Stane has recovered the power suit earlier designed by Stark for his own purposes. When Stane comes to know about Pepper's latest discoveries, he immediately steals Stark's arc reactor from his body and leaves him to die. Using his first reactor which was not designed to power his high-tech suit, Stark battles Stane on the top of Stark industries, deafeating(and eventually killing)him with the much required help of Potts who overloads the main arc reactor that powered the lab which drains the energy from both the suits causing Stane to fall into the reactor and die. Stark's reactor reactivates and the Iron Man lives on.
In yet another press conference in which Stark is supposed to state that Iron Man was his own bodyguard, he, as a result of stumbling into the questions asked by the press, ultimately reveals his identity as the Iron Man.
