I wrote a review for Age of Empires 3. It's kind of rushed, but the love is there.
I would have reviewed a game I hated, but AOE3 is so underrated by most reviewers, I needed to come to the rescue.

Another update from 1UP..it appears Kratos and Sparta have never been closer...
Posted Nov 10, 2006 1:59 am PT
Thanks for the update, I'll check that out.
Sorry I haven't been around much, internet difficulties and sickness have been a pain in the arse lately.

Assuming you've caught up since then...What are your thoughts concerning the latest updates with GoWII? ~Hopefully you'll be able to post more this week

I'll check them out. This week has been busier than I expected, but I just finished school so I will have more free time until I move out, which hopefully won't be for a while.

It would be interesting if we could do battle with the Gemini...but by the looks of things...they would be on our side in a BIG way if they were included. I'm curious as to how Leda will be used in the story *obviously a minor role*.
~I'm sure you were not thrilled to find the favored son of Zeus under his Roman name...Hercules..I just wish Beta wasn't such a "dry season" for information. I seriously think Barlog is going to make us wait until mid-December before throwing us another bone...we likely won't be getting any fresh meat until January..Oh well..at least I have "Bully" to entertain me for the moment.. I've played myself out of God of War for the moment

Don't forget, the demos! We'll get them in mid January...
Zenodoros, do you mind tracking me? so we could be E-Buddies?
I'm trying to get emblems... Convival is my next goal.
how come you gave AOEIII more than GoW? That's just wrong! do you seriously think it's better than God of War?

I read your review for GOW... I still don't get the grade. the entire paragraph you deticated to artistic liberty isn't really a criterion. It's something you might frown upon, but it doesn't make the game less great. It's like me being mad about Kratos wearing a silly skirt...
Omega has something to do with God.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omega
'In the Bible, God declares himself to be the "Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last".'
They used it to create some affinity to the word 'God'. God of War ... God.

Soul..I just don't know where to begin..or even what to say for that matter..
~To keep things nice I'll just say this...God of War and Ages of Empires are very different games (by genre especially)..
--The criterion GameSpot uses is neither comprehensive nor forced in a review. There is a world of difference between God and a god..Your arguement is not without some truth however.
---What he is wearing is not a skirt..I forget the name of the "skirts" we see in classical depictions but this still isn't once of those either I should think seeing as it only covers one side

It's the bottom of a chiton tunic, kept up using a belt (Kratos' bronze belt is actually historically accurate!). Trousers were worn in other places of the ancient world, but tunics were always worn in Greece, Thrace and Italy by both genders, probably because they were easier to make. To the Greeks they were not 'skirts'.
God of War got a lower score than Age of Empires 3 because the scoring technique rates up all the aspects of the game, rather than concentrating on the most important things. It's stupid. It's like reviewing a game with perfect gameplay that shouldn't be missed, but it has bad graphics so it only gets a 5/10. I don't understand it and I don't think you should look into it, because I love both games a lot and am actually usually a harsh reviewer. Like GMG said they are extremely different games. If AOE3 was only single player I'd give it a much lower score. If GoW had a multiplayer feature, I'd most likely give it a slightly higher rating. Though I'm not entirely sure how that feature would work...
Here are the only differences between the ratings:
AOE3 gets a 10 for gameplay and graphics. GoW gets a 9 for each. If you've seen AOE3 in action with a good graphics card, I'm sure you'd understand the perfect score. The gameplay gets a 10 because I'm naturally inclined to think strategy games involve more thought than action games, does not necessarily mean I like them more (RTS and adventure games are my two favourite genres).
However, GoW gets a 10 for my tilt. The scores are still basically the same, it's no 'better than the other' because you can't find more different games if you tried.
I would not expect 'omega' any relation to Yhweh/Allah, the Judeo-Christian-Muslim God, since that part of the Bible was written about 600 years after (we assume) GoW takes place. In any case, omega is kind of affiliated with Z in the Roman/English alphabet - it's the last letter and isn't really used that often. Just imagine "Dragon Ball Omega" - there's no reason for the last letter, but it looks cool so you can include it. At least that's what I think.

btw Soul, we're E-buddies now.

Yay! lol
and thanks for the explaination.
I didn't mean THE God, well I did, but what I meant is they tried to relate to the word. that's all.
and GMG, the "skirt" part was a joke, if you didn't get it.

A poorly executed attempt at humor..I should have realized you were joking before..because you made it so obvious amirite?
~I had more than a little to base my opinion of you *Soul* not really seeing what Zenodoros was saying..and another opinion where I thought you weren't even sure of yourself *which I thought was hilarious*
--But that's just GodModeGOD for you
---Jaffe seems like he wants God of War III to be on BOTH the PS3 and the Wii so badly...too bad for him that just isn't going to happen..If I had to guess, I'd say he would wet himself if given the chance to work designs for both systems *mostly because he loves the Wii mote/Numchuck* If I had a little hands on time with the PS3 controller I could better design ideas (centering on GoW of course) around it.

GMG, I got every bit of Zenodoros' review, trust me. what I didn't get is the reason to make it so valuable. so they took some liberty... is that something wrong? so they made some errors in greek myth, so what? but never mind, I see what you ment now, Zenodoros.
---The Wii won't handle it. it hasn't the spec requirements to run such a game. and although it would seem cool to play GOW with the Wii mote and numchuck, I just can't see that happening either.

I wouldn't want GoW3 on the Wii, because I don't think Nintendo fanatics deserve to play a GoW game without buying another console.
I also think they'd be too hesitant to buy a Sony game, since they're too attached to Nintendo's already overused marketting characters and series... of course, I'm being kind of rude here and have no preference of consoles. Maybe it's just the rebirth of an anti-Nintendo attitude since I grew up playing Sega consoles.

As did I...Jaffe I cannot speak for.
~I played a lot of Sonic and Mortal Kombat back in the Genesis days...my family had a nintendo when I was 2 but we traded it in for a Sega. My friend Myles had a Super Nintendo so we could play Mario games if we felt like it. Evenutally I got the N64 (for Zelda, Doom, Goldeneye and WWF No Mercy)..over time Playstation won me over and I've stayed with it ever since

I basically 'converted' to Sony when I bought a Playstation 2 in 2001... more accurately, about when Rareware was bought by Microsoft. I'd been playing N64 more than anything after Sega was going downhill.

I remember a period of time where I went back to playing "WWF No Mercy" for about 6 months when I had PWNED Budokai 3 into Oblivion. If only they had made more of those...steadily improve what it did right *next to everything* and give the bums making the WWE Smackdown VS RAW series some competition so they would shape up...all I want from them is Create-A-Move.. they could pump out the exact same game as the one recently released and just add Create-A-Move and I would buy it *I haven't played the last 3 entries in the series because they just aren't good enough to warrant my paying money for them*
~It appears I'll be going back to playing God of War for ahile since I have no other games to turn to at the moment...what can I do to spice things up this time?..
