people keep saying its a good movie so i might have to check it out then

I enjoyed the movie as well it stayed true to the graphic novel and even though it was violent in parts it was still great.

I was just mildly amused with Watchmen. It was a bit too long. And perhaps also because the graphic novel is unknown here in the Netherlands, or not as popular like the x-men. But it was not a bad movie.
