I was planning on doing a three-part blog post thing, similar to the "Wielders of the Blade" blog post, but this one consisting of "Best Gunner" and then "Best Villain." But yesterday I had a different idea.
I had just beaten Halo 3 by myself on Legendary a couple of days ago, something I was doing which ended up RRoD'ng my 360 a few months back. Two nights ago I then picked up Killzone 2 (it was a tough decision between that and RE5; I figure I'll just borrow that from a friend though). Yesterday, I then looked at all my current-gen first-person shooters.
I have:

Now what is the point of me listing off my shooters? Furthermore, what is the point of this blog?
Look at each one of them. If you have played them all, good and if you have played more even better. Now think about all of them. They are all in the same genre, yet they all feel incredibly different. UT3 is very twitch-based, KZ2 is heavier, the other games have a good medium. Halo's jumps are extremely high, R2 has a lot of variation and TOB has a bunch of different games in it.
But then think about how they move. Think how they look. Think what the guns are like. Think about why one is better than the other, or if they are even comparable.
I don't know why I thought of this, but I did and... I don't know it just makes me want to play them all (except Halo 3; I've played through the campaign enough now. Bring me ODST!)

And UT3 was pretty fun, maps are not amazing though IMO and being console version not many people online sucks but was fun though.
Killzone 2 I like a lot but online needs work I find now... and really hard to get comfortable doing shooters with the PS3... so much more fluid I guess with the x360
