There are two types of people in this world.
- People who believe Quaid never left Rekall
- And people who believe he actually went to Mars
Which are YOU???
Incidentally, if you've never seen Total Recall, you don't exist.

With Elraptor on this one. No one invented a three-breasted woman either. What do you think?

I'm sure you remember the technician that said something about his trip being called "Blue Sky on Mars." Not to mention the girl he visualizes is the same girl he ends up with, but he doesn't really remark about how that's the one he saw on the viewscreen at Rekall. Plus it's waaay cooler to think of it as just a dream.

"Huh. Blue skies on Mars. Never seen this one." He' still stuck in the chair.

He went to Mars. Remember the Rekall doctor that was there, supposedly to talk Quaid out of his dream. Yet he started sweating, the sign of a liar. That is why he shot him. He went to Mars.

The Rekall doctor does throw a kink in things, but I still think Blue Sky trumps Rekall Sweat.

I had forgotten about the doctor - it's been so long since I've watched the film.

Quaid goes to Mars... although to a certain extent it doesn't matter. The line by Kuato is the most important:
"You are what you do. A man is defined by his actions, not his memory."
So if Quaid acts like a hero, his is one, and his desire to do right thing is genuine, whether or not it's virtual, imho.

Gauss - Right, but regardless of Quaid's actions, if it's a memory injected by Rekall, he can't do anything that would result in his death. So he's not in fact defining his own actions, but playing out a part defined by the Rekall trip. So if it's virtual, Kuato's statement doesn't hold water because it's preconceived by the technicians.
Not to mention I'd rather wake up and come home to 1980's Sharon Stone who in fact is not dead but still writhing fully-nude in my bed. But hey.

"You blabbed about Mars!"
First saw it when I was a kid and since then I always assumed he actually went.

It was all a Rekall dream, nothing more. Aliens don't exist, go back to bed.
Personally though, I've always thought there were only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who don't...

I guess it's only fair that I give out my personal opinion since everyone else is. Truth is, the commentary track reveals which is real and which isn't so I KNOW he didn't actually go to Mars (per the Director and Arnold).
And still my love for Sci-Fi and "aliens" make me watch it and believe he actually went to Mars. See I think the aliens MADE Arnold and Verhoven SAY in the commentary that it was a Rekall dream to hide their existence here on Earth!!!

Your head doesn't just go back to normal. I know it was a special effect but that makes it fake to me.
