OK, I'm stopping with the Scrubs quotes as titles in my blogs...they just don't make any sense (their placement, that is.)

I present to you the shows I am watching this new TV season...shows that I recommend you should watch if they are on in your part of the world.

(In order by day of the week)

Monday: "Chuck"

A terrific new show that, I admit, was a little slow in the first episode. Since then, it has really picked up. It's about a computer geek who works at a cheap knock-off of Best Buy. He gets top-secret government information downloaded into his brain and, suddenly, has the FBI and CIA watching his every move. In fact, one operative gets a job where Chuck works, the other gets one next door. Yvonne Strzechowski is easy on the eyes as one of the operatives (CIA or FBI...don't really know), and Adam Baldwin is pretty funny as the other operative.

Chuck most go on spy missions using the information downloaded into his brain. Quite a step up from working at the Best Buy knock-off. It might be confusing at times, but "Chuck" is action-packed and it has humor mixed in. It's quite an entertaining hour. 8:00-9:00 PM, NBC.

Tuesday: "Reaper"

"Reaper," meanwhile, wasn't slow in the first episode. It got right to the point....and what a point! The show tells the story (to put it loosely) of a young man named Sam (Bret Harrison) who, as it would turn out, had his soul sold to the devil before he was born. In exchange for the health of Sam's father, the family sold the soul of the first-born (Sam, as it would turn out) to the Devil. What must Sam do? Why gather escaped souls from Hell to put them back there, of course! In the first three episodes, they've dealt with escaped souls who have used fire, electricity, and bugs!

Sam gets help from two of his friends who work with him in a Lowe's knock-off called "The Work Bench." The best character of the show is the Devil himself, played terrifically by Ray Wise. Although me might be the Dark Lord himself, Wise brings humor to his role. In my mind, he is also a sort of father figure to Sam, giving him some direction as well as forcing him to pursue his attractive co-worker, Andi (Missy Peregrym). "Reaper" is an exciting show that mixes in comedy, as well. 9:00-10:00 PM, CW.

Wednesday: "Pushing Daisies"

"Pushing Daisies," which debuted last week is a quirky show that, at times, appears to be a fairy tale. The plotline involves a gentleman in his mid-20's named Ned who works at a pie shop. When he was little, he discovered that, with one touch, he could bring dead things back to life. Of course, this is with strings attached. He must make the newly alive dead once again in a minute, or else somebody else dies instead (in the vicinity). In addition, Ned cannot "revive" somebody twice. On the side, Ned helps a private investigator (Chi McBride) solve murders by "waking up" the deceased, asking him or her what happened, and putting them back into the state of being deceased.

Ned ends up coming across a childhood sweethart, Charlotte ("Chuck") (played by Anna Friel), who he makes undead. The only thing is...he keeps her that way, thus killing somebody else in the vicinity. He and Chuck are rather close and she knows his secret, much to the chagrin of Emerson (McBride). Of course, he can't touch Chuck again, or she's dead...permanently.

Like I previously stated, the show is quirky at times, but it is very interesting. Ned has a power I would like to possess...of course, without the strings attached. I recommend it if you like people solving mysteries by talking to the dead themselves. Even if you don't, I recommend it. 8:00-9:00 PM, ABC.

--------------------------------

There you have it. If you're bored, above are three good shows to watch. Of course, if you haven't been watching them, you'll be behind on the storylines. You can always ask a friend or family member (or me!) what is going on.

NOTE: I don't have cable TV because my parents have never felt like springing for it. That's why everything mentioned above is on network TV (there's nothing wrong with network TV...I've lived 23 years with it, and I'm still here!...)

Happy Watching,

Matt

Yeah, I like Chuck, I haven't seen Reaper, and I'm not quite sure about Pushing Daisies, lol. I'm in a family of morticians so they like to watch all those shows related to us, but PD is a little on the odd side. Have to see how the rest of the season turns out.
