~ Dr. Kelso, Season 1, "My Tuscaloosa Heart"

So, not too much is going on. I'll cut right to the chase to leave out the boring details that amount to nothingness.

Two weeks ago, one of my best friends, Nick, called me to tell me that he broke his neck while diving in the ocean and hitting the bottom of it. The good news is that he broke the front of his neck, not the spinal cord. He's in a neck brace, but he will most certainly be able to walk again.

Nick and I have been very good friends since middle school, I think. We drifted apart late in high school because he got a job at the local country club and started hanging out with who I thought was "the wrong crowd." In my mind, he started smoking because of them and drinking a little more than he did before because of them.

Nick's injury has reverted us back to the good 'ol days. I go over to his house almost every night to keep him company while watching baseball games (mostly the Yankees) and football games on TV. I guess since everyone is either working or doing other stuff, he has nobody else to hang with. He can't drive, he obviously can't drink, and so his life is pretty dull. It feels good to help out a friend.

He's going in for surgery on Monday because something in his neck (a disc, I think) is shifting towards his spinal cord. So, I will definitely wish him a speedy recovery from that.

In other news, I went to a temp agency today, filled out some paperwork, did a typing test to prove how great I am at that, and sat in their office for a couple of hours. The good news: they might be able to set up an interview for me with some company next week.

Here's the deal: if I get the job, it would be in Purcashing which, I am told, deals with inputting orders into computers and following up tracking orders or something like that. I am also told that you get bonuses for inputting the data correctly. You also get medical, dental, and 401K. The company has a gym and a softball team. My dad tells me that Purchasing is a good skill to have, so keep your fingers crossed.

Other than that, life is slow. It sucks not having a job, but at least I get to help cheer my friend up in the process. Plus, I may have a job soon (not saying it's going to happen, but you have to stay positive).

That's all I've got. Oh, and Sabres hockey is one month away (less than that, I think). Sweet.

Later,

Matt

Wow, that's crazy. At least he'll be able to walk. It's good to see that you've become good friends again as well. Good luck getting that job, hope everything turns out well. And yes, I cannot wait for the Sabres to start playing again! They better get the cup this year!!!
