Hey hey friends! Is everybody happy?
I certainly hope so, because this blog is going to be me telling you about how happy I am. Why? Because yesterday, I turned 18! ![]()
I would have written this yesterday, but I had to work.
But that's not as detrimental as it may seem because I got a gift from my coworkers! They ripped off the side of a large cardboard box, wrote Happy Birthday on it, signed it, and stapled some lottery tickets to it. My boss also wrote me a nice note telling me to keep up my good work.
It's swell to know you are appreciated!
I got a few presents from my family, but only one DVD.
It was The Day the Earth Stood Still 2-pack, which has the AWESOME 1951 film and the STUPID 2008 remake. I wanted it for the 50s one.

I'm going to Wal-Mart and Best Buy later this week, so I might be able to add a few more titles to my collection. I'll save some money for college too of course... ![]()
Thanks for looking! This is just a quickie, but maybe I'll sneak in a pic blog later this weekend. Any well wishes would be enjoyed.
Have a great week gang!

Oh that's very nice of your coworkers! Hopefully you win the lottery.. and don't forget to share.
HAPPY (BELATED?) BIRTHDAY!
"The Day the Earth Stood Still" is one of my all time favorite sci-fi's. It is one of the most
intelligent science fiction movies ever made. And it is so elegant, what with Gort and the
ship so very minimal, yet so cool. How spooky is Gort? But he and the ship both lack the
stupid blinking lights, dials, and "bleep bloop" crap of the era. Along with an excellent cast
the story is ahead of it's time.
The so called remake was so horribly disappointing. It had none of the spirit of the original
nor any of the subtlety (Michael Rennie) either. The excellent score of none other than
Bernard Herrmann (Taxi Driver, Citzen Kane, Cape Fear and tons more!)
