All right friends, are you ready to shoot elephants in your pajamas, declare war on Sylvania, or sign a sanity clause? (But there ain't no Sanity Claus!) Anyway, I hope you answered yes to the above questions, because today we must honor (the slightly late) 119th Birthday of the master of screen comedy...

Groucho Marx (born Julius H. Marx) (1890-1977)

Groucho and 4 of his brothers (Chico, Harpo, Gummo, and Zeppo) worked in vaudeville and eventually moved to the screen in the 20s. This will spotlight the 13 films the brothers made.

#1- The Cocoanuts (1929)

GROUCHO: (to Margaret Dumont)- "What do you say we give this joint the air and indulge in some snappy necking?"

#2- Animal Crackers (1930)

GROUCHO: "One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in pajamas, I don't know." This is the most famous line of his whole career.

#3- Monkey Business (1931)

GROUCHO: "Is it true that your husband is getting a divorce when he recovers his eyesight?"

#4- Horse Feathers (1932)

GROUCHO: (seeing his son kissing a girl in cla$$) "So, doing your homework in school, eh?"

#5- Duck Soup (1933) The team's most famous film!

GROUCHO: (playing a character named Rufus, making love to a woman) "All I can offer you is a Rufus over you head!"

#6- A Night at the Opera (1935)

GROUCHO: "Do you follow me? Well, stop following me or I'll have you arrested!"

#7- A Day at the Races (1937)

GROUCHO: "If I held you any closer I'd be in back of you!"

#8- Room Service (1938 )

GROUCHO: "This is the first time I've ever signed a contract with mustard on it!"

#9- At The Circus (1939)

GROUCHO: (watching Margaret Dumont being shot from a cannon) "And here comes Seabiscuit!"

#10- Go West (1940)

GROUCHO: "I'd have beat him within an inch of his life but I didn't have a tape measure."

#11- The Big Store (1941)

GROUCHO: (after arresting two businessmen by mistake) "I'm sorry gentlemen. You sure do LOOK like crooks."

#12- A Night in Casablanca (1946)

GROUCHO: (when a dog won't get off the sofa) "I wish he'd get up and give me a seat. It should be easy for him he's got twice as many legs."

#13- Love Happy (1949)

GROUCHO: "I am the same Sam Grunion who solved the interantion uranium mining swindle. The FBI was baffled. Scotland Yard was baffled. They sent for me and the case was solved instantly...I confessed."
