Through a repeat viewing of the TV shows Buffy and Angel, I've come to the realization that I don't actually enjoy the two shows very much. Maybe they are well-written, maybe the characters are true to life, maybe they are everything the fans say--But I just find them to be full of misery and unlikeable/backstabbing/petty/cruel/disloyal characters. Sure there's the occasional 'comedy' episode with lots of laughs, but it always comes to a sad end and we return to the MISERY of BTVS life.

None of the characters are happy. None of the friendships stay true. None of the couples last long. It's heartbreak after heartbreak for these people, and it is very, very tiresome to watch.

I cannot understand why people enjoy watching others suffer in a fictional setting. Really, why? I love a happy ending, and I like seeing people HAPPY and CONTENT with their lives and their loved ones. Not killing each other, or being killed by the bad guys.

On a different note, I've recently begun watching Arrested Development and I love it. It's a hilarious show, despite the fact the entire family (other than Michael and his son) is full of btchy people. Well, actually if they weren't so disfunctional, it wouldn't be funny. But as bad as the family is, they can be good people and a loving family at times.

The episodes seem to be a bit out of order, but the show is great all the same. Check it out if you're into comedy shows, and desiring something a light and entertaining.

Yes, more of those "little" happy endings - I know what you mean. And yet, you took the time to watch it all over again - aren't we funny sometimes?

P.S. You tagged me - now I need to do some research on that.

It makes me wonder why Whedon made such a miserable existence for his characters. Is he just sadistic? Or is that how he sees life. One struggle after another.

You're welcome. I'm glad I could help.
