Still, if Sega wants to make amends for its several games in the series (including its own horrid port of Sonic 1 to the GBA), I wouldn't be surprised if they did release some sort of HD version of Sonic 2 in downloadable form. That one tends to be the fan favorite and it'd be really hard to botch, at least from a gameplay standpoint.

Well, we are talking about SEGA, Sonic and botching in the year 2008. I wouldn't put my bets on it.

Conversely, at least we're not getting rereleases of, say, Sonic Eraser.

I loved sonic as a kid: if they released a new one, as someone says, on xbox live arcade then I would buy it for sure. It's such a relaxing game.
