So, in case anyone has been wondering, yes, I am very much aware of the "Outstanding" news regarding the future for my beloved Mortal Kombat franchise, and lemme tell you, I never, NEVER suspected that this would be the direction it would go in!

So why didn't I make a blog about it sooner? Well I could say that I fainted after seeing the teaser poster and trailer and am only now waking up to recall what I observed, but the truth is I've been busy with all sorts of things (one being a new project I recently submitted to AtomFilms.com), and didn't just wanna make a short "hey look at this!" announcement for something so monumental as "Mortal Kombat vs DC Comics Universe".

But I have shared my view with a few of you already, so this is pretty much for everyone else who hasn't heard from me about it yet. So here it goes:

What do I think of the idea? Personally, I love it!

When I first saw the teaser poster for this game, with Sub-Zero and Batman staring each other down, it was early April. So naturally, I figured "Oh hahaha that's a good one! Very elaborate looking too!" But once I saw the trailer, and witnessed The Lin Kuei throw The Dark Knight through a brick wall...I realized "Oh my gosh! They're not kidding!"

Now, anyone who knows me well knows that I'm a sucker for crossovers of any kind. Be it "Jason vs Freddy", "Alien vs Predator", "Robocop vs Terminator", "King Kong vs Godzilla", "TMNT vs Power Rangers" (yes, that really happened once), I just love the concept, because the possibilities are endless. Now I'll be honest with you, I was always imagining something more to the effect of "Mortal Kombat" vs say "Street Fighter" or "Tekken" (mostly SF though), but I think pitting them against the heroes and villains of the DC Universe is also an innovative idea. I mean, IGN's caption of "Holy $#%!" underneath the picture pretty much sums up everyone's thought.

Although I'm hearing that Fatalities as we know them may not show up for this game, in favor of slightly toned down "finishers", I suppose that makes sense. I mean, who would really want to see their favorite DC character get horribly maimed and disfigured? (though I wouldn't mind giving Brainiac a reason to change his name if you know what I mean). But also, I don't think the DC execs would've approved of that either. It would/could outrage DC devotees and make the fans of an otherwise family-friendly franchise really frightened and/or saddened. Besides, some of us are still getting over the whole "Dip" concept from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit".

I mean c'mon! DC characters have been through enough already: Doomsday killing Superman, The Joker murdering Jason Todd (Robin #2) and paralyzing Barbara Gordon (Batgirl/Oracle). So yeah, it's understandable why asking to do something like, say, tear Wonder Woman's heart out would be a bit much for some, especially if the designers hope to make this game canon for both universes (highly improbable, but you never know).

Which would lead to another set of complications as well, since it would mean that Midway would have to pay royalties to DC whenever mentioning or referencing their properties in a future MK installment. (i.e. Johnny Cage saying "this dump reminds me of that Gotham City place we went to that time"). Speaking of Gotham City, I will be smiling from ear to ear when I go to see "The Dark Knight" in theatres this summer, knowing in back of my mind that later this year, he will be going up against Sub-Zero and Scorpion!

So, with all of that in mind, I just have one question: Who in the Netherrealm is going to beat Superman!?

Thank you for reading, good night.

A little over a month ago, I found out that there were auditions being held in NYC for an independent film based on the video game series: Mega Man.

So I went down there, I auditioned, and...it seems I've gotten "equipped" with the rolling cutter, because I'm going to be playing CUT MAN!! Information on the movie is pretty sketchy at the moment, but if you wanna give it a go, a good place to start would be to look up the films' director, Eddie Lebron. I understand there's a transcription of an interview with him as well as other Mega Man related websites that discuss the film. As for me? I'm doing my part the first weekend of April probably for a couple of days. How exciting!

Gee, first Mortal Kombat, now Mega Man. What's next? Zelda? Mario? Metal Gear? I guess we'll have to wait and see...

First, the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console gets the NEO-GEO console added to it's library, and chooses to launch it's debut with what just happen to be my three all-time favorite NEO-GEO games:

Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, and World Heroes!

And then, it is officially announced that the one and only Sonic the Hedgehog will be a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl!

Some people just don't have opinions. Like WinROCKYWin.
WinROCKYWin must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could WinROCKYWin possibly have for not rating a single film?
