Even the most die-hard Thomas fan will be unhappy with this movie. The Thomas the Tank Engine series have been a great series that was great for both kids and adults. A classic franchise, almost every installment has always been composed with quality. But we were getting a bit skeptical when thay decided to make a feature-lenght film based on Thomas the Tank Engine. The series has always been presented in story-book manner, with the narrator doing all the voices and explaining everything that is on-screen. It works very well, for video. But how will that go into a movie? Well, the movie is finally here, and no matter who you are, you are not going to like it. The movie is a disaster to the franchise. To be adapted to a film-format, every thing was overhauled to the worse, making very unconfrontable changes to the Thomas mythos. Instead of the Island of Sodor taking place in the golden-age of steam-engines (1940's), now the island takes place "in a magical world in a parallel dimension where trains can talk and have conversion and magic is everywere". What the heck were they thinking!?! Turning the whole franchise upside down just to make it more cliche is one of the worst things (nay, the worst!) you could do to the Thomas franchise. My as well kill of the franchise right here, right now. In fact, as far as I'm concerned, they did. The narrator has been replaced with real actors (at least Alec Baldwin reprises his role as the conductor) that are horrible. Most of the film is shot in green screen, with the live actors in front, and the background full of trains in the back. It works good enough, but it just doesn't feel right. Especially when the series has been using toy figurines as tradition. The actor are bad. The voices are bad (James sounds like a 5-year old!). The script is bad. Everything is bad. As for visuals, it's a mixed bag. A prime example is Thomas himself. They made three models of him, one a model train, one a life-size replica, and one a CGI model. When they transition the models from scene from scene, you can cleary tell the change. Sometimes, he is even a different change of blue! They reused the same songs from the TV/VHS series, which is annoying. For a somewhat healthy budget, they could had least made new songs. The live-action parts are very generic and unimpressive. With bland acting, bland colors, and bland locales,everything looks, well, bland. Just more hurt to injury. Now for the point. This movie sucks. Even if you are a fan of Thomas, don't see it. You won't like it. Parents can take their kids to it, becouse kids might not remember the movie very well, so that it won't ruin their experience for them. Hopefully the actual TV/VHS series won't take the same direction as this. Now let's just forget about this movie. Just forget it.

The final part of the Back to the Future has arrived. This film concludes the famed story that the series has introduced. But when we first saw the trailer at the back of Back to the Future Part II, you have to admit, it did not look so hot. It was a parody of the wild west. A lot of people were skeptical (including me) if they could pull this off. Well, I'm happy to tell you that not only this movie gives the trilogy a fantastic third act, but also might be the best movie in the trilogy!

The movie opens up immidiatly after the cliffhanger of the last movie (as a tradition with the trilogy, the movie expects you to know what happened before, so don't go to see the movie if you haven't seen the first two.), where Marty is stuck in 1955 with the Delorean time machine is damaged and stuck in 1885. I won't go any deeper than that becouse this movie is spoiler heavy, and I don't want to ruin your experience. All the fun and thrills that you expect from a Back to the Future movie are already happening in the first 5 minutes of the movie. One of the stellar high points of the movie is it's writing. Full of suspense, you always get chills just to find out what happens next. The wild west parts are pulled off magnifically, even better than the original 1950's TV shows about them. Everything is done to perfection.

Of course, all the original actors from the first two movies come back, and also give their best in this movie. They are always believable, even though the story is preety out there. There are a lot of references to the 1950's westerns (heavy on the Clint Eastwoods), and they are really fun to see these characters go thru these experiences that would never happen in the present. The special effects are amazing. The are really easy on the eyes and blend in with the enviroment. It won't revolutionize how movies are viewed like Star Wars did, but it is a step up from past big budget films, where they though that they needed big flashy special effects to make a film look good. This movie goes completely retro, keeping the special effects to a minimun and relying on sets and clever camera angles to bring in the realism. A good decision, I may add. It really does look like a real Hill Valley on a real western town in the real 1880's. The orchestral score is also back. The phenomenal score from the past two films are back here just as good as ever. Not only that, there are new scores made just for this movie that will delight both fans of Back to the Future and fans of the westerns.

In this movie, all the loose ends from the past two movies come to an end. Every single one of them, confirming that this movie is the last in the Back to the Future series. but don't fret, this movie ends fairly. It's actually a very good ending. It is satisfying seeing everything resolved and with some suprises.

I honestly didn't think that this movie will work. But Zemekis and Speilberg proved me wrong. not only is this movie worthy of the Back to the Future name, but it's also aurgably the best entry in the series. If you have seen the previous Back to the Future, then by all means you should go to the movies now and see it. Worth every penny. If you haven't seen the previous Back to the Future films, then watch those first and then go see this one. Either way, you won't be dissapointed.

He may have a new face, but it's great to see Superman fly again. That's what I thought about this movie when it ended. It may have it's rough edges around the cape, but this movie creates the same type of wonder and awe as the first two Superman did. But, if you are looking for an action movie where Superman punches the teeth out of some supervillian, you won't find it here. There some awsome action sequences that keep you at the edge of his seat, but the movie is in fact a love story. Don't barf just yet, becouse this movie will keep you holding your teeth from the very biggining to the very end. It's that good.

Bryan Singer, who also made the first two X-Men movies, gives great justice to Superman's film predessecors. It's almost an homage to the first two films. This is not a bad thing, becouse I could not image a better superhero film than the first Superman movie. But this movie dares to do the unthinkable. It actually erases those horrible III and IV films out of existance. By that I mean, is that this movie takes place five years after Superman II. It creates a brand new storyline. Think of it as in Back to the Future, where marty McFly uses his time machine to 1955 to change what happened in the future. It's just like that. II and IV never and will never happen in this new film series. A good decision.

The movie involves Superman, that after scientist find the remnants of his planet of origin (Krypton) in outer space, he flies off to space to find it. But the problem is that he has been gone for 5 years looking for his planet, and while he has been gone, everybody he knew on Earth have gone on with their lives. Even Lois Lane, Supes #1 girl has gone of with a new boyfriend and had a child. When Superman comes back, he finds that nobody cares for him. What's worse, becouse Superman was not there to send Lex Luthor to jail (he was away, remeber?), he never went to jail and is now planning a new scheme to get what his wants.

Yes. That's true, this film does not introduce any new villian. But that's okay, becouse the Lex Luthor you see in this movie is like a brand new villian, becouse unlike his 1970's counterpart, the new Lex Luthor is very different. He is now more serious, more villanous, more menacing than the original ever was. He doesn't do wisecracks anymore. He is just interested in one and one thing only: land. He even makes his own continent made out of kryptonite in the movie. He really is a new Luthor. But, now, one of the most important things about this movie that there is a new Superman. Brandon Routh takes Christopher Reeve's place as Superman this time around as the new Superman. Does he stack up to Christopher Reeve? Well, Christopher made a superb role as Superman. But his Clark Kent persona wasn't as good as his Super one. But Brandon Routh is the exact opposite. His Superman persona is not as good as Christopher's, but his Clark Kent persona is far better than Christopher reeve's Clark kent was. And they both look identical to boot.

The film had a huge budget, in fact, one of the biggest in film history. Was it put to good use? Can't tell. But you can clearly see what the effects of the budget has done in the opening credits. The Superman movies have included the best opening credits in the business, with the super-cool blue credits zooming past the audience with John William's heroic score in the background. In this film, the credits are better than ever. With the planets and galaxies flying by you, you feel like a kid again. Most of Superman's flying was done using CGI rather than the traditional green screen setup, resulting in the flying more preetier and belieavle, but not as special. But what was more suprising is the orchestral score. John Williams was not avaible to reprise his role to conduct his Superman score, but John Ottman actually does the theme justice. He is so good, it's like almost having John Williams himself, and that is no small task.

Overall, this is a great movie that finally gives Superman justice. It may not be the giant superhero spectacular like the first one, but it is far better than those horrible 1980's movies. I personally can't wait what happens next.
