Well, after quite a bit of time, I'm making some noise here again. Didja miss me? ![]()
First of all, an update following my previous post. Yes, Anna and I had our home broken into this January, and it was very traumatic. We lost jewellery that could not be replaced, consoles that could, and generally felt quite violated and insecure for quite a while.
Since then, we have updated our security - alarms, window locks, protective glass film, security shutters and mesh - and generally feel a LOT safer than we did. Did we do the knee-jerk reaction and go overboard? Probably. Is the place more secure and safer? Absolutely!
We managed to replace nearly everything that was stolen. I managed to upgrade my 360 from a Pro Console to an Elite, so I was pretty happy. Even managed to track down a 60GB PS3, which was quite difficult to find. Replaced all of the Games, except one - Puzzle Quest on the PSP. (We've since downloaded it for PC and 360, so we're full of Puzzle-y goodness)
Had a slight issue with the insurance company trying to claim I didn't own all the consoles that were stolen (I think they thought we were trying it on, and trying to screw them out of more money than we deserved), which was quite annoying. We had to come up with all sorts of proof of ownership, as we no longer had the original receipts - something we have again changed since the break-in, we now keep photocopies of nearly everything (just in case).
So life is pretty much back to normal now. We're married (and Anna hasn't killed me yet), work is going well (I'm officially in my new position as Training Quality Systems Officer, which is good), and my sister has recently had a beautiful baby girl, so life is good.
How are you guys out there? I'm not sure how many of you still pay any attention to my Blog, as I haven't been checking it much over the past few months. But if any of you still do check in from time to time, it'd be great to hear from you.
In the meantime, keep up the good work people, and don't forget to...
Game on! ![]()

LOL
Nah, I wasn't a Life Guard, mate. I was a Trainer, teaching people First Aid. You had the right sort of idea (working in a life-saving industry), but wrong specific focus. I'll forgive ya just the same though, K? ![]()
With the Games thing, it was weird - they didn't take everything. We lost the 360, the PS3, all of the PS3 Games, a number of PSP Games (but they left the PSP), and a weird selection of 360 Games. They didn't take the Wii, or half of the game controllers for the stolen Consoles. We personally think they took what they could carry on foot, and weren't in a vehicle - otherwise more stuff would have been gone. *shrug*
So as it was, we only needed to replace about 50-60 Games in total. And yeah, I have somewhere over 400 Games around the place, on various consoles. *grin*
