CHERISH YESTERDAY - LIVE TODAY - DREAM TOMORROW

Here is the article:

With the addition of Arabic this year, NHS(Name of my school, this not in here) students can learn a non-Romance lanuage for the first time. Arabic is taught by - , who also teaches French and is in her second year at Norwell. - answered some questions about the new course

Why did you enter teaching?
I've always wanted to teach. Education seems to be a natural choice in my family. I have three siblings who are teachers. My greatest motivation for becoming a teacher is my passion for different cultures and languages.

What degrees do you have so far, and are you planning to continue your education?
I have a B.A. in english literature with a minor in foreign languages. I'm currently working on the M.A. in applied linguistics

Have you previously taught in other school systems?
I taught in - for five years

How did you come to NHS?
I was reffered to NHS by one of my professors at UMAS$

When did you first learn Arabic?
I learned Arabic as my first language. I was born and raised in Morocco, so I grew up bilingual.

NHS has offered students French, Latin and Spanish for many years. How did Arabic come to be at NHS?
I am lucky to be in a district that has such an appreciation for foreign languages. Since I was trilingual teacher and already on staff, we had an opportunity to offer another foreign language and that;s how it started.

How does Arabic differ from the other languages taught at NHS?
Arabic is different because it has it's own alphabet, with symbols as short vowels and new sounds.

What do you want your students to take away from this clas$
I want my students to be able to speak, read and write Arabic by the end of this year. I also want them to discover and learn about the cultures of the Arab world.

What do you see for the future of Arabic at NHS?
I cant' foresee the future, but there is alot of interest in Arabic right now. My Arabic students want to continue studying Arabic beyond this year and after high school.

What's the best advice you could give someone who wants to learn Arabic?
My advice to any student who wants to learn Arabic is that it is not any easy task, but very rewarding because of the sence of achievement from learning a whole new language with a differnt system of sounds and new alphabet.

That's the article i wrote tell me what you think in the comment section below. I had a good week. My grade one spirit week but the seniors won it anyway. Seniors always win period. The homecoming dance was boring i just stood there the entire time as freshmen from my spanish clas.s kept saying hi to me. I danced with one girl and ate some food. Dances are not good if you dont have these songs:

Shout! - The Isley Brothers

barbie girl - aqua

Bloodhound Gang - The Bad Touch

If you know any more songs tell me in the comment section below

I don't get it. Is this about what you want to do after HS? I mean you don't have a B.A. or M.A. yet like the article says. *confused*

I like the interview, interesting to read and nicely focused. The teachers sounds like someone pretty bright at languages indeed. We don't do school dances in here, I'm sorry it was boring. Maybe next year Hugs

Heyy Patrick! I think its a great article, very interesting. Not many highschools have the option to learn Arabic, at least not around here. Heck I dont even think my University offers it. Very interesting! Thanks for sharing Aww sorry the dance was boring, at least you went tho! And yay for dancing with one girl Omg Shout! Is the perfect dance song, completely agree. I think every dance needs the song "Do the Twist" too I love that song lol. ANyays have a great week!
