The concert was held at Monkey Mania, which I'd previously been to when I saw Kayo Dot last. So I was familiar with the setting, I like the venue it's a small place, someones house really. Online it said the show started at 7, so I got there about ten till. Turns out it doesn't start till around 9, so I sat there watching some people playing NES, SMB3 and Tetris. To my surprise the audience wasn't entirely posers. There were some clearly here and there, and a lot of scenesters as well, but that's about it. I'd slept for a few hours before the show and was hoping to get out early, cause I had work at 5am. Unfortunately that never happened.

Anyhow the show finally got started with a local act, Adai. They were a two piece Drum and Guitar duo. Their music was kinda sludge like as best I could tell. They were alright, nothing to great.

Following them was the first of the Headlining acts, Junius. They played a brief set. Nothing I recognized, but that's to be expected, since I've only heard their EP, and only 2-3 times at most. They're alright, nothing spectacular both on record and live, my biggest problem is their simplicity. They're good songwriters, but they could use more diversity, and up the musicianship a bit. They put on a decent show, the last song they played was pretty good.

To Be Eaten followed, which are another local band, playing a somewhat techy style of Death/Grind. Not bad, I was actually quite impressed. They fall into that huge grey void of mediocrity, but they weren't bad. The Vocalist/Guitarist kept switching vocal styles, one was your standard growl the other was an annoying Scream/Squeal thing. He did a pretty cool tapping solo near the end of the last song. Then it was time for the band I'd come to see.

Circle Takes the Square took the stage, finally. I was rather tired at this time, but that's okay. They asked that the lights remained on during their set. They began with "Same Shade as Concrete" and from their continued through their As the Roots Undo album. It wasn't long through the first song that the lights went out, and they asked for them to be turned back on. After finishing up the first song they faced some heckling from some drunken audience members, who should've gotten there asses kicked. They continued along with their album, "Crow Quill" was damn good. Some stupid mosh pits broke out, I was lucky to be on the side so I didn't have to deal with those morons. However I still had to put up with the drunken idiots shouting "Black Metal!", despite the fact that they clearly had no understanding of what Black Metal was. It kinda pisses me off, I couldn't fully enjoy myself because of the crowd, if not for them I would of had a more fond memory of this experience. I'd like to apologize to CTTS for what they had to put up with, I hope they realize not everyone in CO is a ****ing retard. Anyhow I gained a new appreciation for "Kill the Switch" when they'd played it live, I don't know why, it just hit me as really good. The drunks left at some point, but the stupidity of some of the crowd still lingered. "Interview at the Ruins" was another kick ass performance. Some where near the end of the set someone turned out the lights again, after they'd been turned back on, someone, as if trying to be an ass, turned them out again. All in all the set was pretty kick ass and if not for the crowd it'd have been an awesome night.

The next day after 2 or so hours of sleep I headed to work and preceded to get my ass kicked. Work sucked, I got home and fell asleep at around 5. And here I am now.
