Third time's the charm. The movie opens up showing you what kind of movie and what kind of Punisher you're getting with a bit of hyper-realism and massive violence throughout. To me, this is the Punisher I remember from the comics. There's really little need to go over his "hey, that sounds like Batman" origin like the previous movie glorified and extended to a giant, drawn-out family barbecue rather than the tight-nit family picnic shown only at a glance in this one. Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher, says little, letting his actions, a.k.a. bullets, speak for him. Another step up from the last try: NO **** ROMANTIC INTEREST. I cannot stress enough how I do not connect the Punisher with a girlfriend character of any kind like the last one kind of tried. He's Marvel's Batman with no rules and that means he fights without distractions. Overall, its gory, bloody, awesome and everything I want from a Punisher movie despite the overly comical villains.

This is a better movie than the previous Hulk attempt (BUT HULK SAY GAMMA BOMB WAS HOW IT HAPPEN AND NO HAS FRIEND RICK JONES...POOR RICK JONES...). And wow, what a great cast for a single-character comic-book movie. Edward Norton isn't someone I would normally imagine as the meek & mild-mannered Bruce Banner, but he's a great actor and pulls it all off well. Also Tim Roth as the soldier-turned-psychopath-turned-Abomination was a great find for them. I always enjoy his performances and this was no different. I think this comic movie got way overshadowed by Iron Man & then TDK. It hits all the beats necessary from a comic movie and I'd say it's as good as Iron Man & the first couple Spider-Man & X-Men movies...The only thing that kind of bugged me was how Betty's boyfriend was sort of brushed aside & forgotten when Bruce came back on the scene even though in the end he seemed like a decent guy. Loved the hints at both the upcoming Avengers movie, the Captain America movie (the Super Soldier formula), and the next villain, and quite possibly the only Hulk villain I actually remember from the comics besides Abomination, Wolverine & Wendigo (the last of which I only remember because of Wolverine's own comic origins in Hulk's comic)...the Leader. Yeah, and it was a good thing how they made when Hulk finally said his line that it was a sort of quasi-epic moment. Very cool. Hulk is a character for people who want to see **** get tore up. The only problem I had was how weak Hulk seems...his gamma-fueled healing factor didn't seem to help him out after he was done with Abomination (and his blood wasn't green nor glowy enough for my taste), but I can blame this on Bruce trying so hard to suppress him...WHERE AM GREY HULK?? NEXT MAYBE RED HULK???

It hit all the proper beats for a comic book movie, much like the first couple Spider-Man & X-Men movies did. Plus the Iron Man suit looked great and there were some good performances as well. Neither Iron Man nor Tony Stark have ever been any of my favorite characters (though maybe one of the more likable Avengers), but Robert Downey Jr. was an inspired choice and I hope in further roles as Stark the character takes some of the darker turns that he did in the comics (i.e. alcoholism)...Oh, and then there was the coolness factor of the tease for the upcoming Avengers movie with Sam Jackson playing S.H.I.E.L.D. head hancho Nick Fury (WHO SHOULD ALSO GET HIS OWN ORIGIN MOVIE!!!). That's badass right there. I always thought the change from Nick being white to black was a good concept in the comics (though is "Nick", much less "Nicolas" a common african-american name? >_>)... Good job, Favreau! Give us more.

Synopsis of this movie brought to mind horribleness such as Dane Cook's Employee of the Month, which this is far from. I went in kind of skeptical. Seann William Scott (seriously, two Ns in Seann? what's up with that? uh...anyways...) and John C. Reilly are not usual leads (though I thought John was kickass in Walk Hard, so **** you preconceived notions!). But they actually do well here. I end up liking them both and really wondering who I'm supposed to be rooting for at times. This is a kind of bizarre slice-of-life movie that made me think it was going down bad, dark or stupid paths at times. Overall it was kind of weird and made me feel funny, so I like it.

Probably the best filmed sex scene in a movie I've seen in a while, too. lol Though the tease kind of made me actually want to see Thandie Newton get nekkid when prior I probably couldn't have cared either way really. :P

Well, I've actually seen Firefly and have become a regular browncoat (though I guess I'll need to actually get a brown coat sometime) instant fan in the process. I can also now add another reason to the list of "Thanks for the ****ups, FOX" that I've had going, Firefly being the biggest entry so far...Well, after watching the series (& also reading the movie's prequel comic, "Serenity: Those Left Behind") and watching this movie again, I saw it in an entirely new light & gave the movie a bump up by a full star & moved it into my favorites. It obviously means a lot more if you've seen the series and it's obvious that it was made for the fans. While this leaves an opening for possibilities down the road, it kind of feels like it's just the real end of the series, which is sad but great because that's one thing the series didn't get... So **** you, FOX, **** you and the horse you rode in on.

Pretty cool flick about a couple of outcast kids who befriend one another and make a take on the first Rambo movie (First Blood). It's really a very simplistic movie, but it doesn't really need to be anything fancy to express the points (friendship, family & overall being different) it goes over. The stuff with the french kid was pretty funny too (loved the bit on the bus at the end where you realize that he's not really popular where he's from, just another bored weird kid).

Before you watch this: How much punishment are you willing to watch someone go through? You basically watch a guy get the **** kicked out of him for close to 2 hours: physically, mentally and emotionally. This movie is charged. The arc may be obvious, but it is simultaneously brutal and after crawling up to some semblance of hope, it plunges down as if from the top rope. Yeah, I'll go ahead and say it: Best sports movie. Watch it.

Even the credits are awesome.

And I love him for it. Its kind of somewhere between Chasing Amy & Clerks 2. Of course it's still got Smith's amazing talent for writing really sort of outlandish, but completely believable, fun characters. I still hope he gets back to the Jersey/View-a-Skew-a-verse & gives us another Jay & Silent Bob movie sometime, though...

Very weird, strange & cool sort of along similar lines as Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels (minus the more actiony bits) with more American-based overtones.

Neer-do-wells will bash the last half of this movie for straying so much from the book, but I don't care...it would have taken too long for them to get anywhere if they had remained that true to the source material anyways. It's a great sci-fi movie (& likewise great book...Stephen King should do more strictly sci-fi stuff). The toilet scene should live in infamy forever in the hearts & minds of horror fans everywhere. The appearance of the alien in the living room was just great. Made me really enjoy Damian Lewis (YOU SHOULD BE WATCHING LIFE ON NBC!!)...and, no, Thomas Jane isn't the best actor (two SK movies under his belt though...!), but it's not too much of a distraction with the rest of the cast being great. What isn't Morgan Freeman in, right? I love Jason Lee, so I was sad to see him playing Beaver, but he got all those great Beaver-isms, so that was worth it too...****AROW!!

Fairly decent Stephen King adaptation movie (never read the short story myself, though...I read the introduction! that's gotta count for something, right!?)...The pacing kind of clunks along at times (I guess that fits in with the story, making the viewer feel trapped...V_V)...One of my main gripes was early on...did he really need to whip out a pen & write down "=13"? Couldn't have counted 1+4+8 in his head? I know it's just a visual used for the audience's sake, but it still bugged the crap out of me...I enjoyed the twist when he first "gets out" because he didn't seem like a surfer, so I had figured it was a fake and that was the whole reasoning behind the surfing scene in the first place, but was pleasantly surprised when it turned out he hadn't and that it was a reverse fake...! It's like he was trapped in some dark, forgotten level of the Dark Tower (guess who's the Tower junkie who still wants DT movies?)...

I watched this for the ever impressive Michelle Yeoh (for some reason she's credited under some other name...is Yeoh her married name, maybe...?)...But it's actually quite a decent kung-fu flick. Very corny & humorous at times like most classic martial arts movies. It's really a story that's been done to death over the years (two guys starting as friends end up bitter enemies)...but it's done in a good way...I was only disappointed that the evil monk-friend-guy didn't end up using the Buddhist Palm as a last ditch effort that would have ended up being turned around against him (with a big spray of blood coming out his back)...that was the only thing missing from this film, really.

Good lord, Toxic Avenger is an exercise in cheap, oldschool independent film making...and it's absolutely awesome. I remember renting it from the library when I was a kid a lot because there was nudity (hey, I was a kid, but I had priorities, alright?) and the hero totally gets it on with a smokin hot blind chick (how awesome is that?). A cool combination of the superhero & horror genres (basically what would happen if Jason only killed a-holes and everybody loved him no matter how incredibly gruesome the killings were...or, in fact, were performed right in front of them)...Did I say the Dark Knight was the best superhero movie we'd possibly ever get? Well, it's no Toxic Avenger, that's for sure. It's a total cheese-fest and that's why I love this movie...and you should too! >_>
