Third time's the charm. The movie opens up showing you what kind of movie and what kind of Punisher you're getting with a bit of hyper-realism and massive violence throughout. To me, this is the Punisher I remember from the comics. There's really little need to go over his "hey, that sounds like Batman" origin like the previous movie glorified and extended to a giant, drawn-out family barbecue rather than the tight-nit family picnic shown only at a glance in this one. Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher, says little, letting his actions, a.k.a. bullets, speak for him. Another step up from the last try: NO **** ROMANTIC INTEREST. I cannot stress enough how I do not connect the Punisher with a girlfriend character of any kind like the last one kind of tried. He's Marvel's Batman with no rules and that means he fights without distractions. Overall, its gory, bloody, awesome and everything I want from a Punisher movie despite the overly comical villains.

This is a better movie than the previous Hulk attempt (BUT HULK SAY GAMMA BOMB WAS HOW IT HAPPEN AND NO HAS FRIEND RICK JONES...POOR RICK JONES...). And wow, what a great cast for a single-character comic-book movie. Edward Norton isn't someone I would normally imagine as the meek & mild-mannered Bruce Banner, but he's a great actor and pulls it all off well. Also Tim Roth as the soldier-turned-psychopath-turned-Abomination was a great find for them. I always enjoy his performances and this was no different. I think this comic movie got way overshadowed by Iron Man & then TDK. It hits all the beats necessary from a comic movie and I'd say it's as good as Iron Man & the first couple Spider-Man & X-Men movies...The only thing that kind of bugged me was how Betty's boyfriend was sort of brushed aside & forgotten when Bruce came back on the scene even though in the end he seemed like a decent guy. Loved the hints at both the upcoming Avengers movie, the Captain America movie (the Super Soldier formula), and the next villain, and quite possibly the only Hulk villain I actually remember from the comics besides Abomination, Wolverine & Wendigo (the last of which I only remember because of Wolverine's own comic origins in Hulk's comic)...the Leader. Yeah, and it was a good thing how they made when Hulk finally said his line that it was a sort of quasi-epic moment. Very cool. Hulk is a character for people who want to see **** get tore up. The only problem I had was how weak Hulk seems...his gamma-fueled healing factor didn't seem to help him out after he was done with Abomination (and his blood wasn't green nor glowy enough for my taste), but I can blame this on Bruce trying so hard to suppress him...WHERE AM GREY HULK?? NEXT MAYBE RED HULK???

It hit all the proper beats for a comic book movie, much like the first couple Spider-Man & X-Men movies did. Plus the Iron Man suit looked great and there were some good performances as well. Neither Iron Man nor Tony Stark have ever been any of my favorite characters (though maybe one of the more likable Avengers), but Robert Downey Jr. was an inspired choice and I hope in further roles as Stark the character takes some of the darker turns that he did in the comics (i.e. alcoholism)...Oh, and then there was the coolness factor of the tease for the upcoming Avengers movie with Sam Jackson playing S.H.I.E.L.D. head hancho Nick Fury (WHO SHOULD ALSO GET HIS OWN ORIGIN MOVIE!!!). That's badass right there. I always thought the change from Nick being white to black was a good concept in the comics (though is "Nick", much less "Nicolas" a common african-american name? >_>)... Good job, Favreau! Give us more.

Synopsis of this movie brought to mind horribleness such as Dane Cook's Employee of the Month, which this is far from. I went in kind of skeptical. Seann William Scott (seriously, two Ns in Seann? what's up with that? uh...anyways...) and John C. Reilly are not usual leads (though I thought John was kickass in Walk Hard, so **** you preconceived notions!). But they actually do well here. I end up liking them both and really wondering who I'm supposed to be rooting for at times. This is a kind of bizarre slice-of-life movie that made me think it was going down bad, dark or stupid paths at times. Overall it was kind of weird and made me feel funny, so I like it.

The scope of the twists and reveals aren't quite as far reaching as Guy Richie's previous films, but it still manages to be another fun movie with great characters. If you liked any of the others, you'll enjoy this one too. Probably the best filmed sex scene in a movie I've seen in a while, too. lol Though the tease kind of made me actually want to see Thandie Newton get nekkid when prior I probably couldn't have cared either way really. :P
