Its an Acer X1160Z DLP projector! I saved up my hard earned cash and got enough money to purchase this baby for $700NZ. I decided the cost of buying a HD TV of a similar size would have been ridiculous. The 84inch screen it came with is huge, and brand new, the bundle would have cost me $1100NZ while a 50 inch HD LCD TV would have cost a small fortune.

Yes it was previously loved, so much so that it even came with all the original packaging - even the transparent plastic tape sheets on the surface of the projector were still stuck on! The guy had only used it to play his Wii and wanted te cash for a HD LCD TV for his PS3, so the bulb had only been used for 175 hours out of the maximum of 4000. Don't know why he needed to upgrade though. It does 1080i and 720p which I'm pretty sure are Hi-Def.

I got to fire the baby up this afternoon, pluged the PS2 and my Sony Hi-fi in and she ran like a charm, but I will need to get some decent thick curtains and two brackets to hold the screen in place to really put her through her paces.

Now i gotta get some mates over and have a Call Of Duty of Fifa night.

So what do you guys think? Do you think the experience of watching movies and games on 84 inchs is worth $400NZ (the cost of a projector bulb) once every five years? If you guys have used a projector, would you prefer it over a TV.
