Bored today so I decided I'd do the Windows 7 trial thingo. This will be the first time I've ever updated my OS, so is there anything I need to know? Will I have to install all my old programs? I assume I will. What about backing up my stuff? First of all, will I have to? Secondly, how? My stuff (eg pictures, documents etc) will be fine right? And will I need to put it on an external drive? Because I don't have one... I'm really clueless on this
Any help is greatly appreciated!
In other news, I downloaded Worms 2: Armageddon on the XBLA. Excellent game, really reminds me of the old Worms games. I'll need to get more points soon though, MotherShip Zeta is coming this month!
That's it really... nothing else has been happening. Oh, I have a new sig added to the rotation. I really like this one, I think it's probably my favourite.
Ok, thanks to those guys who helped me out with Windows 7. I basically know what to do now and will start things tonight with a backup on my new external HDD. Then a defrag, which will hopefully solve a problem I'm having creating a partition on my C drive, then I'll make said partition and install Windows 7 to that. Thanks again, especially to Nappan! Appreciate it!
If you can't be bothered reading the wall of text below I'll sum it up in one word: brilliant.
For those who can be bothered reading, here it is! Point Lookout is the 4th DLC pack for Fallout 3. It's set in, where else, Point Lookout. The area is almost the opposite to the Capital Wasteland. DC was hit directly, and as a result it's trashed, everything is more or less destroyed, and the land is dry and barren. Point Lookout however, was not a target. The bombs didn't hit here, and it shows. Most of the buildings are intact, and most of the swampy vegetation has survived. Point Lookout is wet. The air is always thick with mist, and the swamps make up most of the map. It's a nice change, and makes for some good exploring. And you'll want to explore it too. The locations are varied: amusement park, lighthouse, detention centre, 2 seemingly abandoned mansions, numerous swamp shacks and a couple of caves all await you.
But enough of the setting. The story is... well it's nothing special actually. There's a bit of mystery in it, but overall it's not exactly Oscar Material. There are a couple of little twists in it though, which is nice but nothing really groundbreaking or notable. The best part of the story quests comes about a third of the way through, but I won't spoil it for you. There isn't much to be gained from the main story quests, just a couple unique weapons and some EXP. It took me about... oh probably 4-5 hours to complete the main story.
New items are everywhere in Point Lookout. Most of the local yokels use new weapons like the Axe, Shovel, Double Barrel Shotgun and Lever-Action Rifle. Nothing around here is especially complicated, so don't expect Laser Rifles or the like. The new clothing is the same, with Confederate Hats and Workman's Coveralls in almost every closet you look in. A special and familiar clothing item also makes an appearance, but I'll leave you to find that. There's a few other items in Point Lookout, like the Punga Fruit, Moonshine, Yeast and Fishing Poles. Most of the items aren't really useful for the Wasteland, and I can't see myself using most of them outside of Point Lookout, bar the Double Barrel Shotgun and Axe, which are both very effective and strong.
As you'd expect, the enemies aren't as varied as The Capital Wasteland. For the most part you'll only see 3 types of enemies - Swampfolk (the yokels), Ghouls and Mirelurks. Some of the Ghouls and Mirelurks have been reskinned as Swamp Ghouls and Swamplurks (Mirelurk King's), but besides the look they are exactly the same as their Wasteland counterparts. The new look does look more natural than their Wasteland look though, the Mire- and Swamplurks are now brown and green. The Swampfolk are typical hillbillies - inbred and, of course, irradiated. I would have liked them to play a bigger part though. They are everywhere in the swamps, but aren't featured at all in the main story. Also, there are no female Swampfolk. Makes me wonder where they all come from...
As for the more technical aspects of the expansion - the graphics haven't really changed. The mist gives the world a new look, but underneath that it's mostly the same textures used in the main game. The sound is great, but I would have liked to have heard some new music. Almost all of Point Lookout's locations re-use the existing music, which isn't bad, but doesn't lend itself well to the swampy setting. One area, The Sacred Bog, has new music which I felt would be perfect for the rest of the swamp, but unfortunately the music is only confined to that area.
Overall, it's a brilliant expansion. If Broken Steel didn't add level 30 and everything that comes with it, I would say that this is the best one to date. I had the most fun with this though, and it comes in at number 2 behind Broken Steel. Despite all that, there are some things that I felt could have been better. Like the ruined houses scattered around Point Lookout. The bombs didn't hit here, so why are there levelled houses everywhere? And the lack of wild animals. There are a few dogs and Mole Rats around, but I felt like there would have been alot more.
Overall it's a brilliant expansion. Like I said before it's only behind Broken Steel, but if Broken Steel didn't raise the level cap then this would be number one on my list. In all it gets a 9.5/10.

Originally this was only going to be an "impressions" blog, but things got kind of carried away. Oh well, I guess I can now use this in my upcoming review of Fallout 3 and all the expansions. That's all for now, bye!
EDIT: Damn... RIP Mr. Jackson. The industry has lost a legend.
Is this true? Yes it is! I'll be writing a review... a real one! No, not more manga reviews... well not after these ones today. No, it'll be a game, 10 points to those who guess correctly. You have 5 seconds.
*thinking music*
Times up! To those who guessed Fallout 3 - enjoy your points! But there is a slight catch. When I review it I'll be reviewing it, plus the 5 DLC expansions (Opertaion: Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, and the currently unreleased Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta) So it won't be up for about 2 months. Why am I telling you now? I don't know... bored I guess. And now, onto the manga reviews! Though they might be shorter than last time - sorry!
Millennium Snow. I love this, really I do. It's by Bisco Hatori, the artist behind Ouran High School Host Club, so as you can expect, the art is basically the same. As are the characters: give Toya some glasses and he'd look almost exactly the same as Kyoya from Host Club! Even the names are similiar. Not to mention Satsuki, who looks and acts the same as Tamaki. Minus the stupidity though
This is not a bad thing though, if anything Host Club copied Snow, because Snow came first. It's only 9 chapters long and isn't actually finished. Very sad because I love it so much. It's deep and sometimes funny, though it's not comedy based. As much as I love the Host Club, I would actually rather it end soon and Bisco get back to doing this. Out of 10, this gets a 9.
Pastel... I don't really remember much about this because I read it a while ago. It's rather average. The art styIe is good, but nothing outstanding. The story is your basic "guy gets into akward situations with a girl he likes", though it does get deeper than that near the end of volume 1. Characters are average, setting is beautiful, though it changes setting halfway through to something pretty generic, which is a shame. Despite it's averageness (is that even a word?) in... basically everything, I liked it. It's just fun, nothing too deep or over the top. 7/10.
Suzuka is something I was looking to get for a long time. I can't remember how I originally found out about it, but it interested me. It was basically described as "Love Hina but better", but I haven't seen or read anything about Love Hina
Nevertheless, I thought it sounded good, so I added it to my list. I finally picked it up last week, though it cost me an arm and a leg - $30(AU) to be exact. Not too expensive, but considering most manga is under $20 (SJ mangas are usually $15) it's pretty damn expensive. Ok, enough about that, I should talk about the manga
The first thing that I noticed was the art. It's extremely detailed, even zoomed out shots have a good deal of detail put into them. The next thing I noticed about it was... the nudity?! I never heard anything about this... it was a surprise, as most of my manga is more or less child friendly
But it's good to have something more... mature I guess, in my collection. The story is... nonexistent? At times it feels like it, but there does seem to be an ongiong story regarding the characters. Though it doesn't really go too far in the first volume. I'm really hoping to get the next volume ASAP, though I'm already in debt so I'll have to wait a while
But in all, 8.5/10.
I also picked up more Hayate and Rosario, but they don't get a review because they aren't new series for me ![]()
I swear those will be the last for a while, Paul so no more complaining
That's all for now, see you guys soon!
