I'm blogging to let everyone know I'm on vacation and won't return until the 16th. I might log in a few times but won't have time to look at my queue. I'm in Los Angeles and the weather is great! I should move back here.

Staying away from TV.com for 24 hours was easy after the design. Last month I picked up four new people guides which is a record for me. I was going for two more guides without editors and then the change happen and I haven't submitted since. Making submissions on the site now gives me a headache for many reasons. Okay I don't bog much so I'm going to keep this short.

1. Get rid of the bright white background - What's with all the white TV.com? Really is all this white needed? It is after labor day and I miss the color blue. I wonder if wearing sunglasses while viewing the site would help? (Leaves to go get sunglasses)

2. Change the tiny grey colored font - While wearing sunglasses helps with blinding white background, it makes reading the new tiny grey font even harder. The font hurts my eyes and I need them to watch television.

3. Fix the renumbering of episodes feature - The buttons to confirm changes are dead which means I have renumber episodes via submission. Thanks for extra contribution points! It feels dirty and almost like gaming.

4. Fix the next and previous buttons located on our submission status page - I had four pending submissions from two weeks ago and I had no way of checking what they where because the previous button doesn't work. The days of me looking at my submissions from 2005 are gone.

5. Tracking of friends blogs - We should be able to see more then just four of our friends recent blogs. Because of this change I'm sure only a few people will even read this.

Note: I've only listed changes staff haven't reported they are working on to fix.

I had a great time at Comic Con this year, but my schedule was just insane.

Wednesday

We passed on preview night this year. We did this to save money but I'm thinking next year preview night is a must just to make picking up our badges easier.

Thursday

We left Los Angeles for Comic Con at 3:30am. While driving to San Diego we passed an over turned Von's truck that had caught fire. No emergency help had arrived on the scene yet, but many people had stopped to help. I mention this because the accident was the cause of many peoples late arrivals. We arrived at the convention a little before 6am. At this point I still have jet lag from my flight from Philadelphia the day before. We picked up our badges around 8:30 am. Because my brother is a writer we never pay to attend Comic Con. All professionals attend for free and they can bring one guest. So again I saved money. Almost all of our friends attend as professionals in fact I think only one of us had a normal attendee badge. Anyway the exhibit hall opened at 9:30am. My first stop was picking up a Comic Con 2008 t-shirt in a size small. The shirts always sell out and the smaller sizes seem to go first.

Panels I Attended

  • Dr. Who (12pm - 1pm) - New head writer Steven Moffat and executive producer Julie Gardner where the guest for this panel. I don't watch Dr. Who on a regular bases but after attending this panel I will. They showed clips highlighting Steven Moffat work on the show and also showed and extended trailer/preview of the upcoming Christmas episode. The two panelist where very funny and entertaining.
  • Touchwood (1pm - 2pm) - Actors John Barowman, Gareth David-Lloyd, Naoko Mori, Bun Gorman and Executive producer Julie Gardner where guest for the panel. Again another show I don't watch or regular bases but after attending the panel I will definitely be watching. This was another funny and entertaining panel.
  • True Blood (4:30pm - 5:30pm) - Actors Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Ryan Kwanten, Rutina Wesley, Sam Trammell and Nelsan Ellis where the guest for this panel along with developer/head writer Alan Ball and Charlaine Harris (the show is based on her novels). The showed us a preview of the show and it looks great. This is coming from a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan who thought that Moonlight was mediocre at best. I had never read Harris's novels prior to attending the panel but I'm currently reading the first book. Thanks to HBO and Comic Con I didn't have to pay for the first book. Everyone that attended the panel was given a red ticket. You had to redeem the ticket in fulfillment room. There we were given a Tru Blood bag which had a T-shirt, a True Blood comic and the book "Dead Until Dark". TV.com attended this panel and did a good job covering it so if you want more information read this. I think this was only panel I attended that TV.com covered.
  • Dexter (5:45 pm - 6:45pm) - Actors Michael C. Hall, Julie Benez, writer Clyde Phillips and
executive producer John Goldwyn. The showed us a preview which you can which here. Jimmy Smits will be joining the cast this season. He will become Dexter's new "friend". Some of things we learn during the Q&A are: (minor spoilers but not really)
  1. Lundy will not be returning this season.
  2. Deb will start a relationship next season, but it "will not be with whom you'd expect."
  3. The theme for the 3rd season is family values and the evolution of Dexter as a man.
  4. Michael C. Hall's favorite kill on the show is Little Chino because of his size.
  5. There will be a "huge shocking reveal" in the season premiere.
Favorite panel of the day: True Blood. Why? Because this show looks great! I can't wait.

The rest of my time I spent walking the exhibit hall. I picked up comics and some swag. Everyday the Warner Bros booth handed out free bags. Each day they had a different bag. This was an hot item that everyone seem to want. I'll post picture when my stupid camera stops being a pain.

We finally ended up checking into our hotel around 9:45pm. We all showered and had food delivered to our room. I was in bed around 11:30pm. Our alarm is set for 3:15am. Friday's agenda includes the Watchmen panel, The Spirit panel, EW's filmmakers panel and the Kevin Smith panel.

To be continued...hopefully...I'll try not to be lazy this time.

The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters
I know there is some debate over this film. Many people have said that the film portrays Billy Mitchell as villain and Steve Wiebe as the good guy. Personally I have always thought that Billy came across as arrogant way before this movie was even...

Train Ride
This is a low budget film which is fine but this movie is really bad movie. The acting is horrible and this makes you hate almost every character. This on top of poor writing is what makes this movie unwatchable. This movie should have been called...

Who's That Girl?
Okay so I know this movie is not that great but it is one of my guilty pleasures because it is so silly and over the top at times. Madonna plays Nikki Finn, a woman just released from prison and looking to clear her name. Nikki also has this high...
