Today is the 4th of July, otherwise known as the celebration of American's formal declaration of independence from Great Britain. Today the United States of America turned 233 years old. Normal tradition has it that we celebrate by lighting off fireworks and firecrackers, have cookouts with family members and attend elaborate parades in which people dress up in anything from attire from the 1770's to going to baseball games and eating franks and crackerjacks. So to everyone in America, have a great fourth of july and have fun.

According to my game stats, I recently acquired BlazBlue for the PS3, and LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga for the PS3. I cant wait to play both of these titles in August. Im still in California and each day I miss my PS3 more and more.

OH and for the sake of anime watching, I finished watching all of the Ouran Host Club. It is extremely funny and had an interesting ending. I wished it continued on. IM now just waiting for more Naruto episodes to be released. Oh and for those NARUTO fans in August, on naruto.viz.com they will show a Kakashi Hatake special, check the website for more details.

My long term plan has been to subscribe to two magazines. First is one that most of you probably could have guessed that I would love to subscribe too. AS a big VIZ fan of Shonen Jump, I just had to sign up for the monthly Shonen Jump that is released monthly in the United States. It only cost $29.95. I had picked up my first copy of it last month, which was a result of seeing the amazing Free Comic Books Day preview edition released on free comic books day. Here was the last issue I bought:

Usually I try to balance entertainment with nonfiction so that I can learn somethin useful in the process. So I considered three different scientific journals. The first is the New England Journal of Medicine, the second was the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and the third is Science (from the American Academy for the Advancement of Science). For print editions, Science is the lowest cost one for students (only $75), PNAS is about $324 for print (only $35 online only version for students), and NEJM, I didnt consider because it is mainly for medicine. Ultimately I chose science. For just $75 a year, I get to be a member of the AAAS as well as receive 52 issues of Science. Science is one of the most prestigious science journals in the world. (basically contains research papers and news from a variety of fields from researchers from around the world, only 10% of papers submitted to the journal are accepted).

This weeks cover of science (stem cells)

So I cant wait to start receivng these. To catch up to Naruto in shonen jump, I will have to speed buy the previous manga volumes of Naruto...fun.

PS: Ive been looking for a PS3 game to buy, any suggestions.

So today I saw Transformers Revenge of the Fallen and I have got to say that Revenge of the Fallen was definitely better than the first movie. For the sheer amount and presence of the Decepticons, this movie potentially pleases those decepticon fans like myself. The action was amazing and the plot was virtually a backdrop, but for those who were keen for details and attention it made perfect sense.

The film exists in two parts. The first part covers the exact first half of th 2 and a half hour affair, Sam goes off to college Decepticons make their move. The 2nd part, Sam attempts to save the world, decepticons mobilize under the commands of the Fallen.

The autobots, for me, were seen as just some afterthought here while the Decepticons took all the glory. The ending of the movie was pretty average though clearly leaves the series off where it started, the epic war between autobots and decepticons will continue again.

Tons of action, nice little details through in (ironically there is a Naruto poster in one of the scenes), addition of new characters, returning characters from the previous film, US Military warfare, the use of a railgun.

All in all a movie that I would add to my Blu-Ray collection.

3.5 our of 5 stars.

Beowulf
At first glance Beowulf may seem like one of those films that will only please people who have fell in love with the English classic. I stand to testify that this is not so. The graphical design of the movie, combined with a stellar storyline...
