Well Ive gotten started on tearing down my 93 Cobra Mustang(no pics yet). After disconnecting the battery, I began by removing the T-5 transmission; which entailed removing the exhaust (X-pipe and mufflers), drive shaft, shifter, spedometer cable, and clutch cable from fork.

Since I have long tube headers on the motor, I had to unbolt them from the heads so I could reach the bolts connecting the trans to the bellhousing. After supporting the back of the engine with a floor jack, I put a transmission jack under the tranny itself and removed the transmission mount/crossmember. After removing the tranny, I let down the jack supporting the engine to see how much it would rock back. Only a few inches, so its safe to leave it untill Im ready to pull it.

With the drivetrain out, I moved to the engine compartment and drained the coolant, removed the radiator w/ electric fan, serpentine belt, cold air intake, and A/C hoses. So far so good for a Saturday afternoon. Next time, I will continue to ready the engine for removal, and I will have pics to show progress. See ya

Why are you tearing it down?

I broke a valve spring, but I was VERY lucky that I didnt drop the valve. I will be installing new rod and main bearings, maybe an E303 cam and bearings, and forged pistons for a future supercharger. New clutch, various suspension parts, and some paint and body work will be done too.

That's awesome that you didn't drop that valve, that would of been bad. How many miles on it?

About 100,000. Yeah,it has needed alot of TLC. But its going to be sooo SWEET when I finish it in the coming months.

Only around 100,000, I wish my 5.0 had that many miles on it. I've got 147,000 on mine, still runs great but I'm going to rebuild it sometime.
