Pixar has never made a bad movie. My least favorite was Ratatouille, but even that was a good movie. Up, however, just might be their second best ever.

The story is a very strong point of the movie. I really don't want to talk about much of it because I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't seen it, but I'll just leave it at this: the story will put tears in your eyes. If it doesn't, then I don't know what will.

But Up isn't all about tears and moving, emotional moments. Who could forget the spectacular animation we all know Pixar is capable of? It's AMAZING! Everything from the people to the environments is simply breathtaking. And Up is the first Pixar movie in 3-D, that was a very well done effect but wasn't over used.

The characters in the film are excellent as well. Carl (the elderly man) is a very memorable character, and Ed Asner makes him a great character. The other characters, like Russel and the dog, are great too. They're so likable, in fact, that I don't know anyone who wouldn't love them.

Everything in Up comes together perfectly for one of the best movies I've ever seen. I didn't quite do it justice in this quick, hastily written review, but the one thing I want to tell anyone reading this is three words: SEE THIS MOVIE!

Night at the Museum was a great movie, it had great comedy, was pretty creative, and was an all-around enjoyable film. When I found out a sequel was coming out I was pretty unsure. I mean, how could they make a great sequel to Night at the Museum? My question remains unanswered.

Night at the Museum 2 is about all the stuff from the museum from the first movie being put in the Federal Archives under the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. Larry (the old night guard) goes to save them when he finds out that the beloved miniatures and wax figures are in trouble: Kamenrah (Akmenrah's brother) wants to take over the world by getting back the tablet (the one that brings everything to life) and unleashing his army of the underworld. (SPOILER ahead) Long story short, he unleashes his underwhelming 'army' or guys with bird heads (about 10 or 15 guys... ooh, we're in trouble) and gets defeated by the Abe Lincoln statue. The rest in between is basically a bunch of chase scenes and... yep, more stuff coming to life.

The whole museum coming to life thing was cool in the first movie, but after seeing it again, it feels like a very tired concept. They stretched it a little too far this time, and even early on they seemed to be fishing for some decent jokes. Actually, the movie wasn't even that funny. The focus shifted to the story pretty early on, which isn't a great idea when the story isn't the best part of the movie. Kamenrah's lisp was over used too, I mean sure it was funny for the first 30 seconds but after hearing conversation after conversation after evil, maniacal, plotting conversation... it just isn't funny any more. Ben Stiller still did a good job acting his part out, but they really didn't give him many good lines. He did what he could with his part, really, but he wasn't given much to begin with.

To sum it all up, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian is an ok movie that just strays from what it should do best. I wouldn't say it's disappointing because I expected very little of it to begin with, but I would say it's a letdown to the first movie. Pass this one up and watch the first one, even if you've seen it before it's worth watching it again for the fifth time over seeing this one for the first time.

The Soloist is a great movie. It involves a reporter Steve Lopez (Robert Downey Jr.) meeting a homeless, mentally ill, but musically brilliant man named Nathaniel Ayers (Jamie Foxx) and writing about him in his column. Along the way, though, he wants more than to write about this musical genius- he wants to help him. Nathaniel, though, didn't really want help, he just wanted to keep playing music in the streets. The movie has a very strong story with some intense and emotional moments, and it all works together very nicely for the story. It's based off a true story too.

What really makes The Soloist a great movie is the story coupled with the acting of Downey and Foxx. The two did a pretty incredible, believable acting job, and both of them were very much in character. The acting is really what makes this movie a great movie; the plot is what makes it a good story.

The Soloist depicts the places where many homeless people in LA (I think it is) live very realistically. They do a great job of making the movie realistic by showing these parts, and revealing to the viewers that there is a whole world of people living with very little out there.

Overall, The Soloist is a really great movie. If you can handle some intense moments, I recommend you see it. It does a fine job of being realistic, telling a great story, and delivering it with some solid acting. Score: 8.5/10

Believe it or not, Bolt is actually a great movie. I just saw it with my family and we all liked it, but I might have been the one who enjoyed it most. I was expecting it to be ok, but I got a lot more than I expected. The story is pretty funny, it involves the dog Bolt, who is a famous dog in a TV show, thinking the superdog stuff from the show is all real. So when the higher-ups of the company know they're losing the interest of the older audience, they decide to make the show a little darker and less predictable by having the girl, Penny, get kidnapped. Bolt, thinking it's all real after shooting the scene, escapes from his trailer and gets out into the real world, from Hollywood he gets accidentally shipped in a box all the way to New York. And so the dog who thinks he has super powers forces a cat named Mittens (who he thinks to be the TV show villain's cat) to help him get home. Along the way they meet a cute and absolutely hilarious hampster ironically named Rhino, who pretty much makes the movie into a pure comedy from that point on. It's really a great movie, and while it looks like it's for kids, the humor appeals to all ages, AND it's clean. It may have typical Disney story elements, but this is easily the best representation of those elements in a long time. The animation looks like it's fresh off the Pixar oven... which it very well could have been, considering the animation studio is now owned by Disney, and that benefits the movie a lot giving it superb animation. The voice acting is also great, namely that of the three main characters (Bolt, Mittens, and Rhino). So anyways Bolt is a really great movie I recommend anyone go and see. I consider it among Wall-E and Kung Fu Panda as far as best animated movies of the year goes. All three of those movies (Bolt being the third, obviously) get a score of 8.5/10 from me.

Huge budget, no value. This movie totally ruined the story of the trilogy, it's almost shameful to even consider it connected to the other two. There are some cool special effects, no doubt, with the Sandman, Venom, and the fight between Harry and Peter, but the story does nothing to back it up. I also hate how they made MJ such a selfish character, everything she says in the first half of the film was "Was I good?" "Was I REALLY good?" "Was I GREAT?" "What about ME?" Man that got annoying, it's a wonder they could bear to make her like that and still have Peter want to be with her. Then Spider-man goes evil, trying to impress every girl in sight, trying to avenge his uncle, ruining a guy's life, man parts of that were just stupid. They could have made it a really emotionally charged film, with his struggle to overcome the evil in him, but they just made it stupid instead. Overall this is a dreadful movie I was unable to see the last battle of, and to be quite honest I don't really care.

Stein merely presents the fact that intelligent design is being tossed aside in the scientific community and people rant on him and his excellent documentary as if it were the most evil thing in the world. He's not trying to insult you because you believe evolution, if he had done so I myself wouldn't have liked this movie even though I myself do not believe evolution. He's just trying to show you that the opposing side of evolution is being ignored in the scientific community. People say he compared evolutionism to the holocaust, which he did NOT! Did you not hear the two or maybe even THREE times he said "I KNOW that evolution DOES NOT lead to Nazism..." In other words, he wasn't saying that evolution leads to holocaust! So please just watch this movie and at least hear him out.

It keeps you on the edge of your seat literally almost every moment. Heath Ledger (Joker) is the best actor in the film and does an excellent job as the brutal, merciless, and unpredictable yet hilarious villain. I could just go on and on about the movie but I'll keep it quick: you must see this movie if you're over 13 years old, or you'll be sorry.

Wall-E has got to be the most unique movie I've ever seen. It lives up to Pixar's standards of excellent movies in its own way and is very welcome after the disappointing Ratatouille last year (it was good but not near what Pixar is capable of)....

Wall-E has got to be the most unique movie I've ever seen. It lives up to Pixar's standards of excellent movies in its own way and is very welcome after the disappointing Ratatouille last year (it was good but not near what Pixar is capable of). The animation is as breathtaking as usual, and this time the space setting really won me over with the visuals. There was really little dialogue in the movie, there were a lot of humans but only one was a major character. Wall-E and Eve have interesting robotic voices that can get stuck in your head but I enjoyed them. The story is very interesting and is a good reminder to get off the couch every once in a while (no spoilers aside from that, I had no clue what the story was about until I saw it and neither should you!). Wall-E and Eve are two of the most memorable characters I've seen in an animated movie and are so full of personality and love despite the fact that they're robots. Overall, Wall-E is a movie anyone should get something out of, and is one of those few movies where 'cute' shouldn't make guys not enjoy the ever-delivering pure entertainment. The score I'd give it is really an 8.5/10, but I'll round up for this movie.

Kung Fu Panda is a pleasant surprise of a movie. I had my doubts when I first saw previews of it in theaters but I just saw it today and it was really fun. The visuals are sharp and great as well as the sound effects and music. Jack Black is hilarious as his character and the rest of the characters were great as well (including their voice actors). The action was even really cool, especially considering it was an animated movie with animals who do Kung Fu. Overall, Kung Fu Panda is a great movie I'd recommend to anyone, it's a movie anyone should go and see.
