Prelogue - the outpour of support has been amazing. Thank you, guys, I mean it.

The real matter - AsBallGamepointed out, Please don't hack GameSpot... I know it's a seemingly effective way to show your displeasure, but all it really does is make our already depleted staff of engineers work harder... and on a Sunday! For God's sake the Raiders are on, people!

The engineers bust their balls to help bring the game world some of the best content (ummm maybe that should have been past tense? Ha! Kidding! please don't fire me) and hacking the site doesn't really deliver the message to where it needs to go.

So go ahead and write scathing blog posts, compose hate-filled comments, scream on your web cam and upload the video... whatever. Let's just leave the engineers out of this, they are the unsung heroes of this machine.

Chins up, friends.

Raiders update: Nice interception, Fabian Washington!!! 27, 20 silver and black.

"(ummm maybe that should have been past tense? Ha! Kidding! please don't fire me)"

That right there gave me a nice laugh. A much needed event in these dark times for the staff and users alike.

It's the people still working there who are going to be caught in the crossfire of all this I fear, and putting more presure on them doesnt do anyone any good.

wow, people are hacking the site because of the jeff issue?! Thats freaking awesome. I was just going to make some vulgar calls to cnet, and quit the site and leave it at that. Lastly, i feel sorry for all you guys at gamespot, you're all awesome people, you don't deserve this...
Posted Dec 2, 2007 4:36 pm PT
that was funny...

while funny, this post is pretty important for people to realise (the people who think gamespot will "die") that when they're trying to hack it, they are the ones who are garaunteeing the death of this site. i know you guys are working really hard as of late and i respect all of you greatly...but you should at least be given a fighting chance to make a comeback. one that i'll make sure i keep track of. good luck to all of you at Cnet. i look forward to you proving the nay-sayers wrong

I hate hackers. There needs to be a special prison for annoying people.

Thanks for making this more widely known... And I don't mean the Raiders info (Cowboys > Raiders).

Not visiting the site (perhaps, you know, tomorrow, the 3rd) > Hacking.

That said, we support the GameSpot editors and staff. It's the management we wanna attack, so I agree that it's better not to make the staff work harder.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Thomas Howard's a beast

Are people actually attempting to hack GameSpot? Anyway I wish all the GameSpot staff the best of luck for the future, stay strong guys.

All this anger and all it's doing is making the honest people work even harder. It's a shame really. This just plain sucks.

I love how everybody says leave the engineers and editors alone . . . but won't somebody please think of the Community Managers?!?
We don't like working on Sundays either.

Go Silver and Black. I have a link to the Raiders web site at my blog. Heck of a game by Josh McCown another great performance by "Huggy Bear" Justin Fargas. About time JaMarcus saw action, too. I've been a fan since the time of Daryle Lamonica,. My old family home has a patch job in my bedroom where I punched a hole in the wall when we lost Super Bowl II to the Packers. I covered it with one of my McCarthy for President posters. Kudos to the staff on continuing excellent work under harsh conditions from both sides. Nobody wants to cut you any slack it seems.

And hacking to gain acess to a network you do not own is illegal in the USA. if you are already being watched and monitored by the FBI/ other goverment branch for other hacking fun joy rides you could end up with some form of legal action from just the goverment alone.. includes prison time or a expensive payments. Hackers already do get punished or prison if caught by the cops.

In fact one guy was sent to jail and had to pay bail for using a coffee shop wi-fi network everyday with out buying coffee and it was filed under "illegal aceess to a network" in favor of the coffee shop (free wi-fi only with coffee purchase). it don't take much to get goverment people angry for hacking/cracking.
