So yeah a couple of weeks ago I coudn't stand it no more and bought a 360, Crackdown (mmmm explosions), Gears of war (mmmm chainsaw goodness) and Dead Riseing (hmmmm time contraints). So far I've been enjoying every minute of it, only thing that didn't quite live up to my expectations were the XBLA games.
There are some really good games amoung them, but there arn't that many of them that you would expect concidering how long the 360 has been out. It should be the perfect platform for new Indie games but the majority seem like companies just wanting to make a quick buck of games they released some 20 years ago. If they were just straight up ports (or slightly improved in some cases) why arn't there many more of them? Just look at the amount of games the Wii already got out. It also seems odd to have games like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night cost the same as Bejeweled 2 Deluxe or get two ports that haven't been changed at all. No wonder nobody wants to develop something new for it.
That amount of games to win me over is now finally here, but now something else is holding me back: the rumored Xbox 360 update. From what little I've read a larger hard drive and built in HD DVD drive seem inevitable upgrades. Larger hard drive for the movies / tv shows downloads and HD DVD to keep up the battle against the PS3's Blue Ray drive. Only question is when this upgraded version is going to be available?
So now I'm stuck in 360 limbo, do I buy the system now and be pissed later when the upgraded version is in stores, or wait for the upgraded version possibly released up to 6 months from now? If I knew when it would be released it would no doubt help me decide if the wait is worth it.
Honestly I've yet to decide, it might very well end up being an impulse buy one of these days, but for now I'm sticking it out and hope to hear something official soon.
