There are some strange laws still on the books from 200 years ago, but have no doubt that more are added every day.

One law in California (in Belvedere) restricts dogs from being in public without their owners on a leash. Yep - that's how it reads. So once Fluffy gets your collar on, you'd better take to the leash as well or stay off the streets.

In Indianapolis you can only throw rocks at a bird if it's attacking you. Self-defense, you know? I'm not aware of any bird pressing charges, although I'm likely to take the bird's word over the human that it was just sitting there in that tree, over the car... not pooping or anything.

Hey, any talking bird wins in my opinion (if you don't know me, see me at http://www.4animalcare.org/ )

Now, for legal rock throwing - Michigan pays people to kill starlings and crows (3 cents a starling; 10 cents a crow). I'm not a fan of Michigan lawmakers and yes, I encourage those birds' good aim!

I often felt that dogs walk me. I guess there are too many antiquidated laws around for them to sort through and change. You just hope people today don't ever need to challenge ones like killing crows and starlings. I have a pair of crows that live in my courtyard and every morning when i put peanuts out for the squirrels they wait until the squirrels go first and then hop up and help themselves. If they try before the squirrels the grey bandits chase them off! So funny to see these little grey fuzzers chase a huge crow that could chomp them if they really wanted to. No reason for the story~I just love crows.

Hi Mary - you're always first, even when you're second !

Kimba, well, you know.

What's scary is that there are new laws that make the old ones look normal. One of the towns wanted to ban washing your car on your driveway. They've already banned plastic bags at the stores in SF.

That's really funny. How do you recieve your cash for killing the birds in Michigan? Do you have to bring proof?
