as both a shooter fan and a non-shooter fan(read: i have Gears of War, Halo, and Blue Dragon, overlord, and soon Mass Effect in my library) it bugs the heck out of me when people make ignorant posts suggesting that because you are non-shooter fan you cant possibly enjoy a 360. This is a fact: the 360 has right now more non shooting titls than the PS3 does, and probably has more announced.(please note I am not singling you out, you seem like a nice guy).
Multimedia Features:
since this seems like an important issue for you i will separate this out.
First off you can multi-media extend your 360 through Windows Vista(which you claim to have on your mac through boot camp i am assuming)

You are able to stream music video etc.. from your PC to your TV(and with divX support coming this should get even more useful)
On the 360 you can also save your music to your xbox(or stream it from your zune using wi-fi)
One of the best features that I have actually tried is the ability to rent tv-shows and movies in HD or SD for a man such as yourself you must be into digital distribution.

three important things to note
· The war has not been decided, you already bought a ps3 so what happens if blu-ray does not win the war? Wouldn't that essentially mean you will have a blu-ray player not able to play any future releases in HD?
· With digital distribution of HD movies over xbox-live to me it seems pointless to even have one at this point, granted the selection is limited on xbox-live but the selection is already limited on any HD-format anyway.
· By purchasing a blu-ray player you are limiting yourself from not have some big name releases like, Shrek, Transformers.. but gain Pirates of the Caribbean it seems like a loose...loose to me.
Reliability
· You mention the noise, my friend who just bought a halo-3 edition says the noise is much improved with the newer 360s
· To me this issue has always been way overblown I had my 360 for 11 months, it RROD and all I had to do was call up Microsoft, talk for five min, three days later they sent me a box and I shipped it back. I haven't gotten it back yet I am expecting it next week sometime but the fact is that I dint have to pay a dime for any of this.
· Microsoft has admitted their mistake, and has extended their warranty to cover this problem, I don't see an issue, since you seem like a busy person I don't think you will miss your 360 for 2-3 weeks if It breaks down(that's a big IF since the newer seem more reliable than when I bough mine).
In closing I dint write this long post just for your particular argument I wrote this so attitudes and opinions and misconceptions(like it being a shooter console) are all false.
I am sorry if I have offended you or anyone in anyway.
